Barska Gladiator 30-90x100 Reviews
Optic quality at 90 zoom is good. You MUST buy a tripod.
First I bought this in December 2019 from B&H and I returned it because the center of weight is over 2 inches in front of the mounting screw, and the scope kept diving with objective lens going down. Also at that moment I decided that the weight of over 2 kilograms (about 5 pounds) is too much to carry in backpack. I returned that Barska in December. In spring 2020 I bought from B&H a Zeiss with weight of about 1 kilogram /over 2 pounds. Light to carry, very good image quality, well centered center of weight, but with maximum zoom of 45. Meanwhile I noticed that in the world of spotting telescopes, 90 magnification is a very rare quality. Even legendary brand names, that cost 10 times more that this Barska, do not have a zoom of 90. I like to look at Jupiter, Saturn, Mars, Venus, and a field telescope is too heavy to carry on trails. BARSKA 30-90x100 WP Gladiator Spotting Scope came back into my mind ! I bought it again in September 2020. ITS INCLUDED TRIPOD IS USELESS. YOU MUST BUY A SOLID, STURDY TRIPOD AS SEPARATE EXPENSE. When you focus the image at 90 magnification, the visual quality is good. That is why I decided to keep the one that I bought second time. Still have to solve the tripod problem, because most light weight tripods are of bad design and fabrication.
Good value spotting scope
This scope is a very good value for bird and wildlife watching. We look forward to using it later this month during our annual trip to the Grand Teton Park.
