APC 650 overview

  • 1Description

The Back-UPS 650 8 Outlet Surge Protector and Battery Backup (120V) from APC provides backup battery power and surge protection for your devices that require outlet power, such as your computer. This Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) features four surge-only protected outlets and four surge and battery-protected outlets with a total output power of 390W. At half-load, or 195W, the battery can last for up to 12 minutes; at full load, or 390W, it can last for 3.3 minutes. This UPS is compatible with devices that have an input voltage of 120V and a frequency of 50/60Hz, such as those found in the United States.

Beyond the more fundamental functions of this UPS, it also boasts more advanced features. If power conditions change while your devices are connected, this UPS will sound an alarm. If the utility power is out, you can rely upon the unit's battery to turn on any devices connected to battery-protected outlets. The battery is hot-swappable and the UPS can be monitored via its built-in USB port. These features, among others, make this UPS a great way to ensure that any devices requiring steady, constant power are protected, such as servers, workstation computers, monitors, IP cameras, and more. It also delivers battery-powered AC. Fear the rain and lightning no more!

    APC 650 reviews

Back-UPS 650 8 Outlet Surge Protector and Battery Backup (120V) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 41.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from POWER! I work in a school that has inadequate wiring - anytime I am working on my computer and someone in the next room uses the pencil sharpener, we blow the fuse. This interuption of power was begining to damage my computer...to say nothing of the frustration at losing my work on a regular basis. Now that I have the Back-UPS 650 8-Outlet Uninterruptible Power Supply 120V by APC I do not lose my work and my computer is in excellent working condition!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Purchased in February 2017, died in January 2018. I have had many APC units over perhaps a 20 year period of time. They have always been reliable. But a unit that is dead after less than a year has me wondering if the quality of work at APC has deteriorated. I will try another model. I also have a model 850 that was purchased at the same time. However I won't allow APC another chance if this occurs again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A proven winner To complete the addition of another computer in our tech corral we needed a new Back-UPS. We ordered the Back-UPS 650 because our other Back-UPS 650s have been tested and proven winners for our company. Rather than spending time researching other products we opt to order the proven product and not chance it with something untested. These units have a very long battery life. When the end is reached ordering the replacement battery from APC is easy and convenient. There is an alarm to 'remind you' it is time to replace the battery. We have 12+ units on-hand of various ages, so rather than waiting until we hear the battery replacement beeping notice, we keep a spare battery on-hand. As soon as the spare battery is installed, I order a new battery from APC, print the APC provided free UPS return label for the old (dead) battery and receive the new spare battery in a few days. The entire process is easy, convenient, and hassle free.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little item! We already had an APC Back-UPS 550, so when we needed to replace two older units - one an APC product, the other of a different brand - we automatically wanted a similar APC product to the 550. These are compact and with the available ports, outlets, etc., they are perfect for our needs. We even put one in an upper kitchen cabinet to be out the way, and it produces less heat than the previous older other-brand model did. We are very happy with our acquisitions!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement for older APC UPS I recently replaced my failing APC 350U UPC with a newer APC 650 backup unit. So far I have not had any power outages so I can't yet comment on power loss handling, but the unit was easy to set up and connect to my PC. It initially showed a run time of 123 minutes but after its first automatic self check the run time then displayed as 23 minutes which is more like I expected. If I encounter an adverse problems with this unit, I'll be back to update my review.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replaced Back-UPS 650 units which lasted 11 years. Purchased two Back-UPS 650 units to replace ones I've used continuously for 11 years. I had replaced the battery in both units once during the 11 years I owned them. The other week both of the older units failed at almost the exact time. Rather than replace the battery once again decided to purchase two new units from B&H. I find B&H has some of the best prices (always beat price of items sold at Staples).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than buying a new UPS We have several APC Back-UPS 650's located through-out the office and prefer to purchase a new battery rather than buy an entire unit. The connectors have a snug fit and may need a little extra encouragement to get properly attached. The batteries have a long life, so you will not need to constantly replace the battery. Thanks to APC's free return label, disposal is a breeze.
