Letus35 LTMCS-COMPLETE-1DXZ Overview

The Letus35 MCS Complete for Canon 1D X and 1D Mark IV with Zacuto EVF Mount contains every part of the Master Cinema Series needed to construct any of the 4 MCS bundles. In addition to having the flexibility to construct these pre-determined bundles, you can also modify and further customize any existing setup to your liking. Having all of the pieces available adds a great deal of versatility to your camera rig, and provides the ultimate ability to have the ideal kit for any given shoot.

The 1D X/1D Mark IV Cage, from which everything else attaches to, is CNC milled aluminum and hard anodized for durability. The cage design incorporates numerous 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 sockets across the entire cage for a large variety of accessory mounting options.

A follow focus is included, providing you with a highly accurate, ergonomic solution for pulling focus. The Letus follow focus is entirely custom built to precise specifications and features CNC milled anodized aluminum and stainless steel components. The gearbox is reversible and allows you to mount the system to either side of the lens or to have the focus wheel rotate in either direction depending on your preference for pulling focus. The mounting bracket is compatible with 15mm rods and features a quick release for simple attachment and removal without having to break down your kit.

The matte box features a lightweight, clamp-on design that supports a variety of easily interchangeable lens clamps as well as a rail mount for attachment to 15mm support rods. Up to 3x 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5mm filter trays can be used at a time or 2 at an angle, as well as a 138mm circular polarizer. This matte box also integrates an ARF (anti-reflection tray) into the design to prevent light reflecting back onto subjects when shooting backlit scenes. A French flag, side flag, and flag eyebrows are also included to help you further control the light entering your lens.

The EVF knuckle is compatible with the Zacuto EVF and helps to mimic the feeling of a proper viewfinder, as with the use of a 35mm camera. The EVF is easily mounted to a quick release plate, providing simple attachment and removal from the entire knuckle. Precision alignment is possible with the use of an adjustable fluid drag pivot point, allowing tension adjustment as well as forward, backward, side-to-side, and up and down tilting movements.

Working in close collaboration with the EVF knuckle, the eyepiece leveler permits the EVF to remain relatively level while tilting the camera up and down when it is mounted to a tripod. The leveler attaches to the knuckle via the quick release bracket and allows you to obtain the best position for the EVF during use. The leveler is connected to the tripod using a base bracket that is threaded for the included O'Connor tripod head.

The V-mount baseplate acts as the foundation for the entire platform and serves as the connection between the camera and any other mount. It is machined from high grade aluminum and stainless steel that is hard anodized for even greater durability. The unique V-mount design permits a quick, intuitive system for mounting and integrates a safety pin to prevent accidental disengaging of the plate.

Also included are 2 MCS Camera Interface Plates. The camera interface plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and is the mounting platform for attaching your camera to the quick release base of the cage. Both the short and standard plates are included, providing you with support for a rear stabilizer and also the option to create a more compact kit. They are also machined from high grade aluminum and anodized for additional strength.

Other accessories included with the complete bundle are a dove tail, a quick release clamp, a clamp to rod adapter, a rail to hot shoe adapter, 2 top/back handles, 2 T-Handles and clamps, a pair of T-Handle hybrid rods, 2x 18" / 45.7cm stainless steel base rods, 2x 12" / 30.5cm stainless steel base rods, a pair of 9" / 22.9cm black rods, a rear stabilizer, 2 Anton Bauer compatible plates, a standard counter weight, a shoulder pad, a padded long weight, and a backpack. These pieces work together in establishing a strong camera rig system that provides a multitude of mounting options for accessories and other tools.

1D X/1D Mark IV Non-Powered Cage
The cage is built from CNC milled high grade aluminum that is hard anodized for further durability. Featuring numerous 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 sockets, this cage permits mounting a large variety of accessories to the cage as well as being able to easily mount the cage to other platforms. It is highly durable and lightweight, weighing just over a pound; this cage is easy to maneuver and provides protection to your camera body.
Follow Focus
The follow focus is custom built to highly precise standards and is constructed from CNC milled anodized aluminum and stainless steel components. It features a reversible gearbox for multiple options when mounting to your system. You can mount to either side of the lens as well as decide which way the wheel rotates for your preference in pulling focus. It is height adjustable and features a quick release mounting system for easy attachment and removal from standard 15mm rods. The rubberized focus wheel and beveled marking disk provide greater ease of use and a 1:2 gear ratio requires less effort for focus pulls.
Matte Box
The matte box features a lightweight, clamp-on design that supports a variety of easily interchangeable lens clamps as well as a rail mount for attachment to 15mm support rods. Up to 3x 4 x 5.65" / 101.6 x 143.5mm filter trays can be used at a time or 2 at an angle, as well as a 138mm circular polarizer. The polarizer can be used with the matte box via a pop-up spring for simple removal and placement, as well as a small wheel located above the filter to help rotate it when in front of the lens. This matte box also integrates an ARF (anti-reflection tray) into the design to prevent light reflecting back onto subjects when shooting backlit scenes.
MCS EVF Knuckle with Quick Release
The EVF knuckle is compatible with the Zacuto EVF and helps to mimic the feeling of a proper viewfinder, as with the use of a 35mm camera. The EVF is easily mounted to a quick release plate, providing simple attachment and removal from the entire knuckle. Precision alignment is possible with the use of an adjustable fluid drag pivot point, allowing tension adjustment as well as forward, backward, side-to-side, and up and down tilting movements.
MCS Eyepiece Leveler
The eyepiece leveler permits the EVF to remain relatively level while tilting the camera up and down when it is mounted to a tripod. The leveler attaches to the knuckle via the quick release bracket and allows you to obtain the best position for the EVF during use. The leveler is connected to the tripod using a base bracket that is threaded for the included O'Connor tripod head. This design is common in 35mm studio camera setups, but has been ported to a smaller format camera to combine strong features from each format.
MCS Baseplate
The V-mount baseplate acts as the foundation for the entire platform and serves as the connection between the camera and any other mount. It is machined from high grade aluminum and stainless steel that is hard anodized for even greater durability. It features a single 1/4"-20 thread and 4x 3/8"-16 threads. The unique V-mount design permits a quick, intuitive system for mounting and integrates a safety pin to prevent accidental disengaging of the plate.
MCS Camera Interface Plate
The camera interface plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and is the mounting platform for attaching your camera to the quick release base of the cage. Included with the Complete 1D X/1D Mark IV bundle is both the short and standard plate. The short plate offers a compact solution for greater nimbleness while the standard plate provides support for a rear stabilizer. Both are also machined from high grade aluminum and anodized for additional strength.
MCS Rear Stabilizer
Providing a secondary stabilization point, the rear stabilizer sits behind the baseplate on the camera interface plate. It is ported for use with standard 15mm rods and attaches to the camera interface plate through a simple wedge design that catches the stainless steel post within the stabilizer. By doing this, the camera operator can fine tune the amount of tension on the camera interface plate and achieve an extremely solid mount of the camera.
Anton Bauer Gold Mounts
The gold mounts are an interchangeable battery system that uses 3 solid mechanical connections and self-cleaning gold-plated connection pins, providing uninterrupted power to your camera and electronic accessories. These battery plates allow you to choose whichever battery chemistry you prefer as well as new chemistries as they are developed. The plates are compatible with several different components of the camera rig, including the camera interface plate.
MCS Top Dovetail
The dovetail is typically mounted to the camera cage and provides flexible positioning for the quick release clamp. Outfitted with 1/4"-20 mounting holes along the border of the dovetail, it can be mounted and easily aligned on a variety of bases.
MCS Top Quick Release Clamp
Designed to work quickly and efficiently with the dovetail, the quick release clamp allows for system modifications on the fly. It is perfect for mounting accessories such as an extra handle or a remote for a follow focus above the lens and having them be easily accessible. The design also integrates a blind attachment system, allowing you to simply push the quick release onto the dovetail for connection instead of having to use two hands or precisely line it up for proper attachment.
MCS Top Clamp to Rails Adapter
This adapter works in conjunction with the quick release clamp and provides simple attachment of two standard 15mm rods to the top clamp. The rods are necessary for use with iris rods and a remote follow focus. This adapter brings flexibility to where you can mount your accessories by making use of the quick release and dovetail.
MCS Standard Counter Weight
This standard counter weight weighs 5lb / 2.3kg and is machined from CNC milled steel. It features 15mm ports for perpendicular mounting to support rods as well as being tapped with several 1/4"-20 holes for further accessory mounting. It also features 3 stainless steel posts, similar to an Anton Bauer plate, that allow you to mount to a gold mount plate in place of a battery.
MCS Padded Long Weight
The padded long weight is a combination of a counter weight as well as a padded shoulder support for your rig. The 5lb / 2.3kg weight fits in behind your shoulder while shooting, providing more control as well as an attachment point for different plates such as the Anton Bauer Gold Plate or a V-Lock. The memory foam pad is wrapped in genuine leather and offers greater comfort and support for long-term use.
MCS Shoulder Pad
Providing extended comfort and support for shoulder rigs, the shoulder pad is constructed out of memory foam and covered in genuine leather. It is designed to attach to the baseplate via a hook and loop fastener, but is also compatible with any surface featuring a hook and loop connection. The center pads are removable and replaceable for customizable comfort and extended future use.
MCS Top Iris Rods
These 9" / 22.9cm rods are an industry-standard 15mm in diameter and provide mounting accessibility for a follow focus and other accessories. They are made from hard anodized aluminum for durability and smoothness of use.
MCS Top/Back Handles
These handles provide a versatile grip point that can be mounted to the standard 15mm rods for a large variety of placement options. Featuring a stainless steel rosette pivot plate, the handles can be rotated and locked in 30° increments. They are CNC milled from high grade billet aluminum and feature a silicon grip for extra comfort and durability.
MCS Stainless Steel Base Rods
Including both 12" / 30.5cm and 18" / 45.7cm stainless steel rods, they are tapered on both ends for easy insertion into clamps and for easy attachment and removal of accessories. The stainless steel construction allows them to be highly durable and are more dent and bend-resistant than aluminum rods.
MCS T-Handle Clamps
These clamps provide a secure connection between the T-Handles and standard 15mm accessory rods. The two top holes are compatible with the standard 15mm rod, while the lower, side holes are only compatible with hybrid support rods. The clamps are CNC machined from aluminum and hard anodized.
MCS T-Handle Hybrid Rods
The hybrid rods are flattened on four sides, preventing them from spinning in the clamp and providing more torque when using the handles. The hybrid design still allows standard 15mm rod accessories and clamps to work with the rails. They are black anodized for durability and a non-reflective functionality.
MCS Rail to Hot Shoe Adapter
This adapter provides a convenient connection between your camera's hot shoe and a 15mm rod clamp. The top rails can then be used to easily mount accessories such as a handle or monitor directly to your camera.
MCS Backpack
This backpack is specifically designed to carry accessories for use with your camera rig. It is ideal to use with tethered accessories, such as batteries, external recorders, wireless follow focus receivers, and more using built-in hook and loop fastening panels. There is also an integrated access hole through the top of the pack to cleanly route cabling from the camera to the backpack efficiently. By using the backpack, you are able to bring more weight off of the camera rig itself and place it more evenly on the camera operator's back.
