The 3' Pearstone USB 3.0 Type-A Male to Micro Type-B Male Cable provides a reliable way to connect USB devices to your computer for charging and data transfer. The cable allows you to benefit from the USB 3.0 SuperSpeed maximum transfer rate of 5 Gb/s, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0.

This premium cable features two unidirectional paths that simultaneously transmit and receive data. With a maximum throughput of 900mA for configured high-power devices, the cable is capable of powering bigger devices that require more energy. I panicked while trying to plug it in, briefly thinking I had purchased the wrong sort of plug, but I figured it out, and everything works perfectly. Helps to have a backup, y'know!

I was really pleased with the quality of the cable, thick and flexible. I use this cable to teather my D850 to a computer. No problems. You do need to be sure the computer port is USB 3.0 for acceptable results.

Does this cable work with a Pentax 645Z? If not, what is the proper and fastest cable to connect a Pentax 645Z to a Mac?

I bought the longer version to tether to a Pentax 645z, and it connects, but for me it was not snug enough and dropped the transfers about half the time. It's a well made cable, however. I got a 15' cable from Tether Tools, with the line regulator, and so far it has worked 100% of the time. Don't get the one with the L shaped camera connection, because the cord will go up rather than down. The straight connection to the camera works better.

The cable merely carries a current from the charging source. Some cables are better at carrying higher currents. The thing you need to be concerned about is the amount of current or voltage generated by your charging source, e.g. laptop, power pack or charger you plug into the wall. That should not exceed what is specified for the phone.

If your Macbook Pro has a USB Type A port, this cable will work. If you have a newer Mac that only has USB type C, you would need a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
