Love Hate Relationship

This is my second LensCoat and just like the first one, I love and hate it all at the same time! First the love part - yes, it protects your lens from scuffs and chips and yes, it makes the lens less obvious to people and animals. It makes handling the lens more comfortable when cold and is a bit more grippy. Now the hate part - putting it on is a struggle. I get why that is but still, every time I put it on, I find myself cursing. Of course this is a one time issue assuming you don't take it off and on but it is a big enough issue to make me not want to deal with it in the future. Also, the plastic clear sections that span the lens controls/buttons are a joke. No, you cannot easily move any of the switches and buttons with it installed. I've had to cut out the clear plastic in order to maintain functionality but then there is nothing to hold the shape of cover which makes it look pretty ugly. On this last go around, I didn't even install that section. It was useless. Fortunately, it came with enough self-stick customizable bits to cover most of this area.

Very poor fit

For something that was designed specifically for an very expensive lens, this product was poorly designed. The sections are too short, leaving the white of the lens sections exposed. Also, the slot for the lens hood screw was cut so close to the edge that it was already about to break through within days. I would not buy this product again.

Not a bad product

I had put off getting any of these covers for my big lenses because they add bulk and I personally don't like the texture of them. The are not grippy enough for my taste - not wanting to lose my grip on my expensive gear. They are very snug when applied and don't seem to slip. I did notice that a couple of the pieces on the barrel could have been just a little bit longer to cover completely and the piece with the plastic windows gets a little narrow where the windows are not. You have to cut and stick the section that goes where the tripod foot is attached. I didn't bother because it wouldn't have added much for me. I'm using the cover to help me shoot on hard and uneven surfaces (like my truck window opening) and not so much for camouflage.

Expensive, didn't fit, but company came through

I've been a big fan of the Lenscoat products and in the past have justified the rather hefty price tag in that it is an American company and they produce a rather specialized product. This purchase was exceedingly different and not only was one element too small by an 1 1/2" but the die cut neoprene was imprecise and foreshortened in a few of the sleeves. After several rounds of emails with Lenscoat, providing information and a series of photos they replaced the one short element.

Fits perfectly on my Canon 500 mm

I read some of the reviews and was a bit concerned if it is going to fit my lens, some of the reviews rated the LensCoat badly, however knowing the return policy is good i took the initiative step and bough it, it fits perfect and i am very happy with the product.

Does not work with lens case.

When the lens coat is on the lens, the lens does not fit into the original hard case. When you try to close the case enough to secure the latches, you have to use excessive force. Switches are impossible to operate unless you cut them out. The focus control buttons are covered up and can no longer be used.

Works excellent to canon the white of my Canon lens and doubles as protection for the finish when tramping thru the brush.

Have you considered leaving a slot open to allow ...

Have you considered leaving a slot open to allow one to install the internal polarizing filter on this lens? It would make this product a lot more user friendly.
