LensCoat LC5002 Reviews

Very poor fit

For something that was designed specifically for an very expensive lens, this product was poorly designed. The sections are too short, leaving the white of the lens sections exposed. Also, the slot for the lens hood screw was cut so close to the edge that it was already about to break through within days. I would not buy this product again.

Expensive, didn't fit, but company came through

I've been a big fan of the Lenscoat products and in the past have justified the rather hefty price tag in that it is an American company and they produce a rather specialized product. This purchase was exceedingly different and not only was one element too small by an 1 1/2" but the die cut neoprene was imprecise and foreshortened in a few of the sleeves. After several rounds of emails with Lenscoat, providing information and a series of photos they replaced the one short element.

Fits perfectly on my Canon 500 mm

I read some of the reviews and was a bit concerned if it is going to fit my lens, some of the reviews rated the LensCoat badly, however knowing the return policy is good i took the initiative step and bough it, it fits perfect and i am very happy with the product.

Fits perfectly and provides nice protection for an expensive investment. It's a bit hard to see the red dots on the lens for aligning with the camera, but there are pinholes for them to show through.

Very good product

Adjustement was perfect but there is a piece to cut and this is not so easy.

Good Product, Instruction Diagram Inaccurate

This is my fourth LensCoat. The product itself is good. But on the 500mm f/4 IS II LensCoat, the instruction diagram is misleading. Despite the diagram to the contrary, piece 2 is wider and tapered. Piece 3 is narrower and straight. In the diagram it shows both being straight and piece 2 being narrower than piece 3. The written instructions are correct, the diagram just doesn't match.

Not a bad product

I had put off getting any of these covers for my big lenses because they add bulk and I personally don't like the texture of them. The are not grippy enough for my taste - not wanting to lose my grip on my expensive gear. They are very snug when applied and don't seem to slip. I did notice that a couple of the pieces on the barrel could have been just a little bit longer to cover completely and the piece with the plastic windows gets a little narrow where the windows are not. You have to cut and stick the section that goes where the tripod foot is attached. I didn't bother because it wouldn't have added much for me. I'm using the cover to help me shoot on hard and uneven surfaces (like my truck window opening) and not so much for camouflage.

Have you considered leaving a slot open to allow ...

Have you considered leaving a slot open to allow one to install the internal polarizing filter on this lens? It would make this product a lot more user friendly.
