Len Coat LC5002 Reviews

Excellent protection - not so easy to apply

This was much easier the first time around, which was long enough ago that heavy use had worn some parts, and much harder this time. The paper backing for the adhesive is so well adhered to the adhesive that it is a struggle to peel the paper back. I found that scoring the paper with a knife allowed me to get access to the backing without peeling the adhesive away from the neoprene.

Love Hate Relationship

This is my second LensCoat and just like the first one, I love and hate it all at the same time! First the love part - yes, it protects your lens from scuffs and chips and yes, it makes the lens less obvious to people and animals. It makes handling the lens more comfortable when cold and is a bit more grippy. Now the hate part - putting it on is a struggle. I get why that is but still, every time I put it on, I find myself cursing. Of course this is a one time issue assuming you don't take it off and on but it is a big enough issue to make me not want to deal with it in the future. Also, the plastic clear sections that span the lens controls/buttons are a joke. No, you cannot easily move any of the switches and buttons with it installed. I've had to cut out the clear plastic in order to maintain functionality but then there is nothing to hold the shape of cover which makes it look pretty ugly. On this last go around, I didn't even install that section. It was useless. Fortunately, it came with enough self-stick customizable bits to cover most of this area.

Have you considered leaving a slot open to allow one to install the internal polarizing filter on this lens? It would make this product a lot more user friendly.
