Magnus VT-3000 Reviews

Good product for the price

We used this in a church for a live stream camera. The tripod seems sturdy and well made. The feet adjust to reveal ground spikes, which is a nice option. The head is sufficiently adjustable and works fairly well for smooth panning left and right. It is a little difficult to make small adjustments without having to go past where you want it and letting it bounce back. It doesn't have a lot of flexibility for panning up and down outside of the main adjustment of the head, but it works well enough for our purposes. The remote really helps and works great with our Canon Vixia HF G50. Much better control of the zoom with the remote. It's not perfect, but it is a good value for the price.

This tripod is a joke.

If you want smooth fluid shots look elsewhere. This tripod has a terrible locking system and is heavy. The worst part about this thing is it's inability to pan and tilt smoothly. Like at all... For filming sports, interviews, any sort of tracking shot, buy anything else. They have cheaper options with better functionality. Easily my biggest regret in terms of gear I've purchased. Waste of money.

Solid Kit for the Money

The tripod is sturdy and sets up quickly, and I like how the rubber feet can be adjusted up for access to the spikes without having to remove the feet. The video head is decent, although drag can't be adjusted. Additionally, the QD is not compatible with 501-style plates that I had, so I had to mount a separate QD mount on top. Overall, not a bad tripod/dolly combo for the price.

This is a solid base for video work. i use it in our church to hold a lens heavy camera and it works excellently. I know it is advised not to move the tripod with a camera attached but this holds so securely that we put the whole unit away each Sabbath with out detaching the camera and all the attendant cabling.

How long do you think this unit will last with moderate use? I read a review stating 1-2 years (and resulting in a leaky ball head and poor legs), but wanted to hear what some other people had to say.
Asked by: Jens S.
I've had mine for about a year and have punished it severely. So far, so good. Check back in a year and I'll tell you if I had problems.
