Shure MX153 Reviews

Unbeatable sound for this price point

This mic has excellent sound. We have an AT mic of the same design, and it's a great mic. This one is even a little better and is half the cost. No noise, amazing clarity, and comfortable. Will likely be buying more.

Shure MX153 = Dead On Arrival

I ordered this piece of equipment for a seminar. Just by chance I ordered another brand as well for comparison sake. I'm so glad I did as the Shure microphone arrived on time but was completely defective. Thankfully I had ordered the spare so i was able to compete the seminar. Shure let me down at a very critical time. Quality control or advanced testing of the product would certainly be money well spent.

had to return, connector only works with Shure receivers. That is a piece of information that would have been nice to know before purchasing it.

Works fine

I am a student pastor and use this mic for preaching at our church. The microphone seems to work well with our Shure bodpacks and has a good sound. The only negative to it is that the mouthpiece extends to the very corner of your mouth. It almost goes in front of your mouth. For the price, I supposed I shouldn't be super picky, but if I am being honest, I don't really like how long this piece is. Otherwise, it is a great option for a small amount of money.

Works perfectly!

I used this last night at my camera club meeting and everyone could hear me perfectly. I wear hearing aids and it was not a problem. Very comfortable and much better than lavaliere microphones which are unidirectional.

Qualidade Excelente, estrutura frgil.

I need something like this, but for broadcast from my phone. I need headphones with a professional mic built in with a 3.5mm Jack. What can you offer for me?
Asked by: Paul
For smartphone purposes, a quality bluetooth headset would be the best option of offering both a mic and headphone built in. For a low profile option, here's this Plantronics recommendation. BH #PLV5200UC .

Is this compatible with a Shure MLX1 Bodypack ...

Is this compatible with a Shure MLX1 Bodypack Transmitter J10 band? thx
Asked by: Doug
This Shure MX153 Earset Headworn Microphone has a TA4F (4-pin mini-XLR female or "TQG") connector which is compatible for use with Shure bodypack transmitters. I think the model for your transmitter may be BLX1 (not MLX1 - there was a typo on some of the product descriptions from other retailers). But regardless of the model number for your transmitter, the MX153 microphone will work with Shure bodypack transmitters. The connector type and wiring configuration are what matter for compatibility of the microphone and transmitter, not the wireless frequency band that the system operates on.

This product is terminated with a TA4 4-pin connector, so it is not directly compatible without an adapter.

Compatable with the Audio Technica ATW-T210A????
Asked by: Anonymous
No it is not. Your bodypack transmitter will accept a cW-style, push-lock, 4-pin connector.

question

Will the microphone distort with a loud singer?
Asked by: Thomas
The MX153 is intended for use in speech applications; as such it would not have the same tailored frequency response nor the same SPL rating as a condenser element built for vocals. While, depending on the singer and gain settings of the connected equipment, this model might suffice, however some more ideal headset options for vocalists would include the Shure Beta54, Beta53, SM35 or WH20XLR, with the Countryman E6 being the highest quality option available in a similar formfactor and with similar color options.
