    Canon EW-88C reviews

EW-88C Tulip Lens Hood for EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM Lens is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from The Houdini Hood's Disappearing Act Like another reviewer I had a continual problem of the hood falling off. I was lucky several times as others notified me when the poorly fitting hood fell off with the slightest bump. Recently my luck ran out. I returned from an event to discover the hood was long gone. I have several top quality Canon lenses and this hood is the only one who loves to play the disappearing act. Beware!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible design This has to be the most horrible lens hood design ever. After having paid $ for the 24-70 2.8L II one would think Canon would have put a little more thought into the design. The Lock/Release button broke after the third use during a wedding no less, which I noticed after it had fallen off 5 consecutive times in roughly 7 minutes. Currently looking for a third party replacement. Heck if I'm going to pay over $ for another.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Probably Not Worth The Money I have the original that came with the lens when I purchased it about 15 months ago. About 2 months ago the hood stopped locking on the lens. Now, it rotates almost freely on it's own and I have to make sure it's on straight before taking any photos otherwise it gets in the shot. Half the time I just leave it off. I'm disappointed that the locking mechanism only survived about a year. I'll probably save some money and find a knock off brand which will work just as well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Do NOT BUY THIS hood I am so annoyed with this purchase. The fit is so poor that at a recent event the hood fell off my lens three time within two hours. The lens release button would make you assume that the hood locks into place. NOT SO! Twist the lens on and it doesn't can easily remove it by turning it in the opposite direction and if your camera is on a'll never know it's fallen off. Who would I call at Canon to tell them that this product is garbage?

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality The hood will not stay attached to the lens. The retaining button is worthless and the hood fits poorly on the lens. I own 9 L lenses and this hood is the absolute worst of them all. A big disappointment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best hood yet, bit pricy This hood lost a star only because its pricy... but it is a Canon product so that's expected. What sets this hood apart is its ability to lock onto the lens (in both directions) by means of the locking button.. this is very handy and keep the lens better protected. I've completely destroyed my lens hood now because it protected the lens on 2 occasions. 1st when a wrestler stepped on it while i was at the edge of the ring (i do sports photography) pretty much 1/4 of the hood snapped but it was still useable. and the second time when my camera fell completely from my shoulder height and the hood took the impact protecting the lens. I will buy this again and again to protect my already beaten up 24-70 2.8

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Goes on the Lens! Hard plastic, felt-lined inside, clips on nicely and doesn't fall off. Honestly, I had an off-brand version of this for a few months and it really was awful, and then I lost it and decided to buy the real thing. Still not sure it is worth almost sixty dollars, but certainly a massive improvement over the flimsy, slightly-wrong-sized knockoff. Same thing with the hood for my 85mm 1.2 II, come to think of it. You get what you pay for!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A real loser The mechanism on this hood will not keep the hood securely latched to the lens.
