The Nikon MS-D12EN Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Holder replaces the AA batteries in select NIkon motor drives.There is no back-up battery. You can have a second Nikon MS-D12EN Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Holder in reserve, but it would be a replacement, also.

Can I use this holder (MS-D12EN) to power a D4S from an EN-EL15 battery?
I don,t believe it will fit. The D4 series uses a much stronger battery.
