The ProStaff 5 16-48x60 Spotting Scope from Nikon has a Porro prism design with fully multi-coated optics. A large magnification zoom of 16-48x allows a wider field scan followed by progressive magnification of finer details. The 60mm objective lens transmits enough light to make this spotting scope usable in the low-light periods of dawn and twilight. The angled eyepiece allows longer stress-free viewing sessions with a more comfortable view of targets near the zenith. There is a built-in sliding sunshade for protection from excessive glare or raindrops on the objective. The housing is fully O-ring sealed and purged with nitrogen to ensure all-weather performance. Regardless of the weather conditions, the field of view will be sparkling clear and the optic's internal mechanism will be well protected from the negative effects of moisture and atmospheric residue. Waterproof to 3.3 feet for up to 10 minutes, this fieldscope is suitable for all types of outdoor activities in any kind of weather. Backed up by Nikon's "No-Fault" repair/replacement lifetime warranty regardless of what happens to the scope—even from your own negligence—Nikon will repair or replace (at their option) this extremely well-built and durable fieldscope.

Nikon ProStaff 5 16-48x60 Reviews
A good scope
I am using this mainly for archery targets out to 70+m and it is probably overkill but very good and will also be used for basic astronomy. Feels solidly built and is very clear at low magnification, a little less at high but usable.
Great product, not prefect
+ As I would expect from Nikon, this scope has great glass. Tack sharp(I am a professional photographer by trade and this is why I went with the Nikon brand)+ Lighter than I expected.+able to mount easily to your everyday superstore or professional tripod+feels solid and feels like it could take a bump or two without affecting it's performance.-Neoprene cover fits great on the front but baggy and loose back-straps for cover are awkward and don't pull in the right direction to snug down the cover. They are really useless.-The focusing nob is oddly placed and is not ergonomically comfortable to use. It is hard to to get used to getting your eye up sooo close tot he lens to look through it. You almost have to touch your eye to the lens! Doesn't work at all like a rifle scope.-I would have like to seen some attached caps for the lenses. Loose caps always get lost, I even tend to loose those my rifle scope caps even thought they are attached together by the elastic strings.
