Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 overview

  • 1Description

The VerticalMouse 4 (Wired Right-Hand) from Evoluent offers a new twist on the classic computer mouse: one that keeps your hand vertically in a "handshake" position while you're pointing, clicking and scrolling. That means your arm sits neutrally without twisting, which is designed to afford extra ergonomic comfort during extended sessions.

The shape of the mouse is sculpted for superior ergonomics, and the programmable buttons are easy to reach. Pointer speed controls on the side allow convenient adjustment of the laser sensor without releasing your hold on the mouse. There's also a thumb rest, which has been reshaped from earlier versions to offer added comfort. Top-mounted LEDs show through the chrome thumb rest to indicate one of the four selectable pointer speeds (extra low, low, medium and high).

Another feature that sets this mouse apart from the crowd is its lighted Evoluent logo, which turns off when the mouse is in sleep mode to conserve notebook battery power. An extra-wide lip along the bottom edge prevents your last finger from rubbing the desk. Provided along with the mouse, you'll receive a driver; Evoluent Mouse Manager for Windows lets you program six buttons and extend functionality of the bottom thumb button. This mouse has been tested to work with Windows, Mac and Linux based computers. Simply connect it using an available USB port.

    Evoluent VerticalMouse 4 reviews

    VerticalMouse 4 (Wired Right-Hand) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent!!! Mouse is one of the modern instruments most of us use most during the day, and incredibly enough not much thought in terms of ergonomic design is given by manufacturers. This mouse is excellent. I used to have minor pains after prolonged usage, until I found this mouse.. Hope more manufactures start giving more serious thoughts to mouses. I know the price is high, but how much is a healthy right hand / arm worth?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really helps me I purchased this mouse to assist me in trying to prevent the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome with my hand and wrist. This mouse puts my hand in a neutral position and has helped to greatly reduce the tingling sensation in my hand and thumb that I was beginning to feel after a day's work on my computer. The button on the top left of the mouse is a little too sensitive but other than that, I have no regrets with this purchase. This wired mouse works with both Windows and Mac computers so I can use it at work and at home.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Yes, this is what I needed Totally different than a traditional mouse but by Day 3 using it I am really loving it. I have days where I spend 12 hours at a computer and was having repetitive stress pains in my index finger from clicking the mouse button. After only two days using this my finger already feels better. Well worth the price, the device is extremely well engineered and works so smooth. I can't believe how many years I used the $$mouse that comes with a computer.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Pain Returned I have a wowpen that I didn't like when I first got it, because it was heavier than my other mouse, and I don't like it that it doesn't have a lip at the bottom outside for my pinky. Plus, it's super hard to click. But I got it out again recently when my light, regular, 3-button mouse gave out on me, and, after using it for a few days, noticed that some shoulder pain that I've had for years was going away. And away it went. It's not there. So I figured I'd spring for an Evoluent, since maybe the buttons would be easier, and it has the spot for my pinky there. Well, the buttons were definitely easier to click, very nice. And the pinky lip was good, too. But it caused me to lean my hand a bit more to the right (or, I guess I should say upright) than the wowpen, and the pain slowly started to return. So I will be returning it. Still searching for my holy grail of mice. I am on the computer many hours a day every day and I have rheumatoid arthritis. I do think that this mouse is better than a regular flat mouse, and I know several people who've used it and swear by it, and have relieved pain with it. It just didn't work out for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A mouse that doen't hurt the forearm I use the Evoluent for my main computer. It is a large mouse and it does take some getting use to. It has three main buttons under the fingers, two buttons next to the thumb and the wheel button. All are programable with the downloadable software from the Evoluent site. The buttons are a little light but once you get used to them it works very well. I liked it so much I purchased one for my wife. Both are on computers that run Win 7 pro, no problems yet. I have been using the mice for 3 weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is my forever mouse. I purchased this mouse to replace an earlier model that I had dropped one too many times. It's extremely comfortable to use, and its ergonomic design is perfect for me, especially since my hand was affected by a herniated disk in my cervical spine a few years ago. This mouse was recommended by my physical therapist and it has enabled me to avoid further problems.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's Ergonomical Goodness This device allows you to mouse with your hand and wrist to be in a more natural position. You don't have to twist your arm over to cover a flat mouse and is much more egronomical. I've been using them for years and when one wears out I go out and buy another.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Mouse, but expensive This vertical mouse is great, but very expensive. It works on a lot of surfaces, but not all. Cable is pretty good quality. I like that is it fully vertical mouse and not slanted a little. Very comfortable and excellent quality. Many buttons.
