FEISOL CT-3441S overview

  • 1Description

The CT-3441S Traveler Rapid Carbon Fiber Tripod from Feisol is a solid set of heavy-duty four-section carbon fiber legs that weigh 2.5 lb, hold up to 44 lb, and can be extended to 70.1". The legs are reverse-folding so that they enclose the included 2-section telescopic center column and optional ball head, allowing them to fold down to 16.9". Feisol's Rapid anti-leg rotation technology prevents unwanted leg twist, and a ballast hook on the center column permits the hanging of stabilizing weight. A tripod bag is included for storage and transport.

    FEISOL CT-3441S reviews

CT-3441S Traveler Rapid Carbon Fiber Tripod is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy & Light Best travel tripod I found after quite an intensive search. Feisol tripods are rock solid carbon fiber structures. Maybe is because of the thick diameter of the legs; I'm not sure. What I'm sure is that I will buy their product again and again. I had the chance to try the traveller version and it was very sturdy compare to the rest, and by the rest I mean a lot of tripods I tried. Never the less it wasn't compatible with the video base column they offer, which is why I finally purchased the Tornament Rapid CT-3442 version. Is a bit longer than the traveller but it isn't longer than my old manfrotto and is way, way lighter and holds much more weight. It's has a very minimal design but is Efficient, Sturdy and Light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Light and portable At 2 1/2 pounds this is a nice and light tripod. It's very sturdy for the weight. Many tripods in this category use thinner legs. The twist locks are reliable and have held up well for the three years that I've had this tripod. Since the legs are entirely carbon fiber or plastic, they stand up well to being immersed in salt water. Unscrew the leg sections and rinse them off. You're good to go. Also the center column is extensible. That's not the most solid thing to do, but sometimes helpful. If you buy the small Feisol ball head the legs will fold up backwards and make a compact package for packing. I use a bigger head, read smoother and more precise, so either have to remove the head for travel or live with the longer length. I have a couple of quibbles. The spiked feet are an extra purchase. They've been included on my last two tripods. Different manufacturers. The second quibble is that the leg angles seem to be a bit tighter and place the tripod on a slightly less stable platform. I know that doing so makes for a taller tripod for the weight, but it gives back the stability of the thicker leg tubes.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looking for light, it's just right!! I was looking for a tripod that folds up short, light weight and well made for my backpack. This carbon tripod fits my needs. It is amazing how light it is. Even with the ball head on it folds up and hardly fits over the backpack. One thing I really like it is when extending the legs it only take a light touch to lock them in and the sets up in a jiffy. The center column works on the same principle estends and locks very easy. Now what I don't like; The angle of the legs are too narrow and doesn't give you the best support. I do mostly outdoor shooting so I got the leg spikes which will take care of that problem for me. The one thing that Fiesol should do is give you an Owners Manual. They want you to go on line if you want one. Warrantee card? No such thing. Need to make sure you keep your receipt for warrantees (On line also). Though both are not real biggies it just makes it a lot easier, something Fiesol should think about. The carrying case is real nice except you only fit your tripod in it, no room for your ballhead. In all I really like my tripod. It fits perfect on my backpack and hardly notice it there when I hike. It's a top notch tripod for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A bit heavy - great value for money - follow up Three years later: I sold my Nikon kit as well as the RRS TC-24 tripod. I used this tripod for the past 3 and a half years with Sony A7II as well as Sony A6300 cameras and an assortment of FE lenses during all my travels. On occasion I put on it a Nikon 300mm f2.8/D810 combo - but it was a stretch - I did not extend neither the column nor the last two leg sections. The tripod legs are working perfectly, no issues. Very happy with the quality and the camera support offered. Highly recommended.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from S is for Shorter Thought I was getting my 3d CT-3441. Didn't do historical research on web to discover that the S inconspicuously appended to CT-3441S means SHORTER. I find the advertised improvements to this model wholly illusory (locking mechanism seems the same to me). But as a 6' photographer who doesn't like to extend the center section (less stability), the SHORTER height is a major disadvantage. In addition to being sneaky. Can't see why Feisol doesn't emphasize this -- I'd have ordered the lighter, taller 3441T, which I didn't previously need.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A bit heavy - great value for money I just received the tripod, so I cannot vouch for its long term reliability. I bought the tripod to use with my Sony NEX kit while traveling. I did not really want to spend the money on a Gitzo or RRS travel tripod, so I decided to buy this based on the many favorable reviews in the internet. I like the build quality quite a lot, tolerances are tight and nothing rattles. When I use it with my RRS BH-23 ballhead, I can fit the tripod nicely in the provided case. My only complain - the legs seem to me to have the same weight as my RRS Versa TVC-24 tripod - so a bit heavy for a travel tripod. However, this is compensated by its small size, good quality build and relatively low price. My NEX camera is rock solid on these legs, even with the extended column. If the column is not extended, it is stable with my D800 + 24-70mm on it - for occasional use. If you are using big DSLRs with heavy lenses - I strongly recommend to look at a bigger tripod.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for Travel I've had this tripod for almost two years now. Haven't really had any problems with it. Does not budge with my Canon 5DM3, 100-400 lens along with a heavy backpack hanging down. It shows no signs of giving up either. Folds up really well for carrying on flights etc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than pricer options and lighter than most I have had several different tripods over the years but I took a long time researching and reviewing before this purchase and I am very pleased I took the time. This tripod is not from one of the better known brands but it is very well thought out and fantastically made. I can recommend it over other more expensive options as well as cheap less well designed choices.
