Properly stitching a set of panoramic images to produce a super-sized panorama or VR movie requires, among other things, a completely level horizon line. To obtain that result, this Feisol PB-70 Panning Base is extremely useful. It has fine micro-adjustments to help you achieve a precise horizontal plane in your images. The base can be inserted between a Feisol Standard or Tournament tripod and its head so that it fits seamlessly into your camera support system.

question
I realize this is for the Feisol line; What's the mount on the underside? Another 3/8 threaded hole? What's the gear reduction, knob to rotator? 3:1? 4:1 ?Looks nice.
The thread size on the Feisol PB-70 is 3/8 . Unfortunately, Feisol has not provided information on gear reduction ratios for this item.

Does the panning action have any adjustable drag? Or is it basically, OFF free and loose or ON locked down tight? (with no friction in between)
I just checked mine and if I only loosen the knob a little there is friction to keep it from rotating freely. I’m using mine with a gimbal head that wobbles when I loosen the panning knob. It was cheaper to buy this panning base and keep the pan on the gimbal head locked than to buy a whole new gimbal head. This panning base is sturdy and stable even mounted between my tripod and gimbal head.

question
It is unclear to me if this panning base (PB-70) is a simple rotator or if it also has some levelling function. I can't see any levelling parts in the picture but the text indicates micro-adjustments . Please clarify.
There are no leveling functions on the Feisol PB-70 panning base. The micro-adjustments refers to the measurement markings on the base.

Is there any way to affix an Arca Swiss plate to the bottom of the base?
The bottom of the FEISOL PB-70 Panning Base features a 3/8th inch connector. The Arca Swiss plate connects to a 1/4 20 connector. One can use a 3/8th to 1/4" bushing to connect the Arca Quick release plate:Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing: https://bhpho.to/2KrpELL

Does this FEISOL PB-70 have a payload ? How much weight can it hold and still pan freely without binding ? I'm using a Nikon D850 with a Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6
The PB-70 rotates very smooth loaded with my rather heavy Leica S, 120mm Summarit lens and a heavy head similar to a Arca Swiss Cube. No issues at all, even in cold environment (winter in Norway)
