Properly stitching a set of panoramic images to produce a super-sized panorama or VR movie requires, among other things, a completely level horizon line. To obtain that result, this FEISOL PB-90 Panning Base is extremely useful. It has fine micro-adjustments to help you achieve a precise horizontal plane in your images. The base can be inserted between a FEISOL large tripod and its head so that it fits seamlessly into your camera support system. Load capacity is 83.8 lb (38 kg).

A great JIB solution
I purchased this panning base after searching for a solution to mounting my JIB/Crane to a tripod without having to go the video head route. After reading the other reviews on this product I decided to give it a go. The male and female threading mounts are , the rotation is smooth and lockable, and it is solid enough that it can take the weight easily. I did need to convert the threading on my Glidetrack Carbon Jib from to to accommodate this base, but that was specific to my situation and not a big deal for me to do. I highly recommend this pan base as a alternate to using a traditional video head. This allows you to use your video head on the end of your jib if you choose.

Solid, Well-built
I purchased this panning head as a mounting point for my mini-jib on a flat top, Manfrotto tripod. I was having trouble locking the motions of an ordinary video head on my tripod while using the mini-jib. It occurred to me that removing the head and replacing it with a heavy-duty pan head might solve my problems. Indeed it did! I now have a solid and secure panning base for the jib. The PB-90 is a solid, heavy-duty piece of hardware that does the job at an extremely reasonable price. It's well finished, accurately marked for panorama use and the locking knob really locks the panning motion. I'm happy with my purchase and would recommend this panning base for anyone needing to mount heavy hardware on a flat-top or other type of device. The B&H website is marvelous source of wide ranging information that allowed me to locate this device. Thanks for being such a complete reference source of hard to find hardware.

Smooth Pan
Reading another review for the PB-90, I too needed a panning head for a DIY jib. I was afraid that my regular tripod head wouldn't be able to handle the weight, so I decided to give the PB-90 a try since the jib weight falls well within the weight limit of the PB-90. Worked perfect for my application. Very smooth pan, exactly what I was after. And I also like that I can adjust the amount of resistance using the locking knob.

large solid base, movements not as smooth as expected
was looking for an azimuth base for a alt-az telescope mount, but the movements are not smoother than the pb-70, despite the larger diameter of the pb-90 otherwise, works fine.

I recommend this product
I purchased this product for use with an iOPTRON Sky Tracker, which has no panning base per se. The PB-90 makes it easy to align the mount in a northerly direction once the tripod is leveled. The PB-90 is very well made and finished. The operation is smooth and without any play. It would also be useful with ball heads without a panning base, such as the Arca Ball P0, which is normally used inverted with the built-in panning base on top.
