The 4-12x40 AO Crossfire II Riflescope (Dead-Hold BDC) from Vortex Optics is a cost-effective yet durable variable power riflescope. The 4-12x magnification is ideal for close to mid-range hunting and target practice. A nitrogen purged and o-ring sealed aluminum housing is built to perform in driving rain and extreme humidity. This model of the Crossfire II is configured with a Dead-Hold BDC reticle and low-profile capped windage/elevation turrets. The wide 40mm objective lens features enhanced light gathering ability that is well-suited for performance in low light conditions. An included sunshade prevents stray light that can degrade image quality from entering the field of view. A fast focus eyepiece, parallax error correction, and generous eye relief make the Crossfire II a full-featured scope for sportsmen.

More DetailsVortex Crossfire II 4-12x40 Overview
Dead-Hold BDC Reticle
Customized compensating reticle subtensions minimize guesswork on holdover and wind drift corrections, ideal for shooting at ranges where calculating accurate bullet drop is essential.
Anti-Reflective Lens Coating
Fully multicoated optics and an additional anti-reflective coating on the objective and the ocular lenses ensure transmission of bright detail-rich images throughout the entire magnification range.
Rugged Construction
The one-piece aerospace aluminum housing is anodized for a durable non-reflective finish. Each optical element is held in place by machined locking rings that ensure perfect lens alignment even after intense recoil and rapid fire. Additionally, the interior is nitrogen purged and o-ring sealed, preventing driving rain and extreme humidity from fogging the optics.
Adjustable Objective
The focus ring on the objective bell enables parallax error correction and helps ensure accuracy at the far end of the magnification range.
VIP Unconditional Warranty
This unlimited, unconditional, fully transferable, hassle free warranty is almost unheard of in the optics industry. Whether damaged by the owner or a manufacturing defect, Vortex Optics will repair or replace the scope at no charge.

I have this scope on 3 different rifles and I am very satisfied with all 3. It has a clear sharp picture from side to side and all adjustments are firm and smooth. A great scope for under $2oo.

I mounted the scope on a Savage .308 rifle. It is clear, easy to adjust and holds zero. The adjustable optic is an excellent addition. The price I paid at B&H Optics is the best I have found on the Internet!

question
what would be your best recticle for shooting targets?
It doesn't matter what reticle you have when using a scope unless you are in the military, 98% of BDC's do not function as they are meant too. The reticle is the last thing you need to be concerned with and more concerned about how to shoot. I am shooting .5 @ 100yd or .5 moa and reticle is not even a concern. Learning the scope and how to use the turrets and parallax should be your concern and when you get all that down you will understand what I am trying to get you to understand, good luck and stay safe
