Difference between vortex 10/42 Binoculars for $500 and $1000
I have owned both the Vortex Viper (lower end of your range) and I own the Vortex Razor (higher end).There is a difference optically, but it's not monumental. It is not like the difference between a $100 dollar binocular and a $1000 or even a $500 binocular.The Razor's are brighter, sharper and have greater clarity. There is a build quality difference that is certainly noticeable. I have tested the Razor's side by side against the top Zeiss (Victory SF) and Swarovski (El)10x42 binoculars and all in all I would take the Razor's over both. I recommend and own the Razor's, but the BEST VALUE FOR THE MONEY is probably the Viper model. All Vortex optics have an unconditional/transferrable lifetime warranty....industry best by a fair bit. The story here about the lost lens cover, happened to me to, called them....new set inside a week.
