This Kupo Tilting Umbrella Adapter with 5/8" Studs is one of those accessories that is a "jack of all trades" type of adapter. It consists of two baby 5/8" (16 mm receivers) on either end joined by a tilting pivot and a ratcheted metal handle to lock it securely in place and a hole with a set-screw to lock an umbrella shaft in place. This adapter enables you to use an umbrella with light fixtures that don't have a place to accept an umbrella shaft. Two 5/8" (16 mm) studs accompany this adapter. The KG000912 has both 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 male threads on either side and the KG001112 is tapped with 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 female threads on either side.

does this adapter tilt more than 90 degrees? i need something that can be angled downward
It has a wide range of movement; you can adjust it anywhere from the 8 o'clock position up over to the 4 o'clock spot. About 240 degrees.

I know that the more expensive counterbalanced Kupo swivel umbrella bracket is made of aluminum. This one looks identical but is it also made of aluminum or is it a plastic?
The main parts are a cast metal. The only plastic parts are the knobs to attach to the pole and to adjust the tilt.
