This is my second Manfrotto ball head, and in all honesty, my first model (468MG) is better (has more range). But it cost twice as much in unadjusted 2011 dollars, so I would expect that. The important thing is that this head perfectly meets my needs, which are simple: This is part of a fixed overhead photography rig in my studio, one in which I will need only minor plane adjustments in daily use. A head that cost twice as much would've been a waste of money. Probably my only complaint is that the locking tab is plastic; metal would make me feel more secure. We shall see how that holds up. Also, I appreciated the extra quick release plate that came with it - you can never have too many spares.

Usually I use pan/tilt head since I have a heavy camera and worry about the steadiness and loosening up of the ball head. This Manfrotto 949 center ball head changed my opinion. It can lock and hold the camera at any angle securely without tightening the knobs super hard. The quick release plate lets me moving the camera between this ball head and video head quickly and easily.

question

Will this (Manfrotto 200PL) fit a Bogen 3262?
Asked by: Anonymous
With a quick release adapter you can use any plate you want on the Bogen 3262. To use the 200PL, I suggest you use this adapter made by Manfrotto: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/554141-REG

I would like to release my video camera from my Manfrotto tripod and quickly attach it to a Steady Tracker. Is there a mating plate available for the 200PL Quick Release Plate? In other words, is there a female plate that I could attach to other devices so that I could quickly move my camera from one setup to another? Thank you.
