The 8 TB SnapServer DX2 12 Bay NAS Server from Overland is a high performance, scalable NAS server. It supports DynamicRAID for seamless storage expansion by adding or replacing hard drives. The SnapServer storage volumes can grow automatically by adding drives. It simplifies management and can quickly adapt to ever changing storage requirements.
The SnapServer is ideal for storing both block and file data. This 2U SnapServer DX2 NAS supports up to 12 SATA, SAS or SSD hard drives. It integrates across platforms with Windows, Linux, UNIX and Macintosh environments. You can consolidate multiple servers into the SnapServer DX2 NAS using the data import tool. You could also host virtual servers and database applications using the iSCSI SAN feature. The SnapServer DX2 NAS supports Microsoft VSS/VDS integration that simplifies management and ensures consistent application snapshots. It protects data by replicating to one or multiple SnapServers. You can take snapshots for point-in-time recovery and perform backups to disks, VTLs or tapes. The DX2 NAS has the ability to scale up to 288 TB with seven SnapExpansion chassis. It thus creates a customized storage server with simple management and advanced features for any business environment.DynamicRAID
The combination of DynamicRAID and SnapServer DX2 NAS provides optimized redundancy and capacity without manual intervention. You can add or replace SnapServer hard drives at any time to expand the existing storage pool capacity. It allows you to mix and match drives of different sizes to dynamically grow storage pools without wasting space. You can choose from single or dual parity protection with a simple click of your mouse.
Revolutionary Volume Management
It helps to create limitless volume on your SnapServer DX2 NAS and automatically shares the available space. This means that the volume occupied matches the data requirement, making enough space available for any other volume on demand. Storage volumes can also automatically grow and shrink independently without any downtime as per your requirement. Administrators can assign optional quotes to control volume sizes across the storage pool.
Unified Storage
You can consolidate storage by hosting both block and file level data on the SnapServer DX2 NAS. It utilizes common networking protocols for file sharing, collaboration and backup. You can also host database storage and virtualized servers simultaneously on SnapServer iSCSI LUNs.
Advanced Security
The SnapServer DX2 NAS provides local security for small infrastructures. It can join larger complex networks that include security policies. It fully integrates into Windows Active Directory domains, UNIX domains and offers cross-compatibility for mixed security environments. The SnapServer also allows you to maintain consistent permissions for users with multiple system types and with minimal intervention across your business infrastructure. It automatically stays synchronized with the 30 distinct AD permission attributes. It also supports Windows-to-UNIX ID mapping and local permission management.
Expansion
You can add drives to the existing DynamicRAID sets to grow the existing SnapServer DX2 NAS storage pool. It can also be expanded by attaching the external, 2U, 12-bay SnapExpansion chassis*. The SnapServer provides flexibility to grow without buying more storage than needed at any given time. Now create an additional storage pool within each expansion chassis and allocate it as per your need. You can scale a single SnapServer up to 288 TB while maintaining a simple and a provision-free management.

Replication with Snap Enterprise Data Replicator (Snap EDR)
Snap EDR allows you to automatically replicate files between SnapServers, Windows, Linux, UNIX and Macintosh servers. Built for globally distributed businesses, Snap EDR ensures safe and secure off-site file storage. It supports byte-level incremental replication, bandwidth throttling, compression and encryption. You can share data with the distribute feature to remotely send documents. Snap EDR allows remote backup of servers across the globe from a single management interface.
