It works!
These are so useful for many things. I used them to keep my lightweight travel stands from blowing over by wrapping them against a pole during an outdoor travel job. Can't carry weights or sandbags with flights. I also use them to keep batteries together, etc.
Every person on a film/video crew should have a few of these in their pocket.
