    Canon EF-M Reviews

EF-M Lens Adapter Kit for Canon EF / EF-S Lenses is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 118.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A must-have to use Canon SLR glass on EOS M I initially purchased a non-Canon lens adapter for my new EOS M5. I didn't seem to be getting the performance I expected from that off-brand adapter and any of my L glass (300mm f2.8 and 300mm f4). The adapter seemed to make the lens motors noisy and lacked the smoothness of focus you expect from L-glass. Enter the genuine Canon lens adapter and the problem was solved. No more noisy hunting of the focus motors and clearly all the lens data and correction is available through the adapter. Lesson learned!!! Spend the extra money and get the genuine article if you have L glass around that you'd like to use on the M body!! Gives me additional choices for my travel M5.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works exactly as advertised! I purchased this adapter because, although I'm going to try the M travel lenses, I did not want to give up the use of my L lenses as an option with my new mirrorless canon. I needed to use this adapter right away because I was going on a trip, had the new little M5, but the 22mm lens had not yet arrived. Knowing that I was going to be using a prime on the M5, I chose my 50mm 1.2 l lens. The adapter fit perfectly, and the autofocus worked just like always. There was zero loss of light and my photos turned out amazing. I may be spoiled using the big lens on the tiny camera, but the adapter made it all possible!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Image Quality over Convenience This adapter is exceptionally good at doing what it's designed to do... but not so great at doing what you *hoped* it would do. (Hint - it doesn't wake the EOS-M any faster. Actually, makes it slower) If you're like me, you have a nice little stable of Canon EF lenses that you can't wait to attach to your EOS-M. The first thing I attachhd was the fat 70-300L white whale. It looked hilarious, but the image quality was stellar. Same with all my other lenses. I particularly like the 24-105L. So, if you have a few seconds to spare between shots, you love the image quality of your current EF lenses and you don't mind a little extra heft and size... this is a must-have accessory for Canon shooters with the EOS-M. Just don't expect miracles in terms of speed and operation. The Good: -Incredible sturdy, well-built. No play when lenses attached. Gives you confidence -No loss of image quality. You will never know the image was taken with the tiny EOS-M -All functions work, autofocus and image stabilization -The tripod mount is removable, but essential if you want to mount this on a tripod The Bad: -It really makes the thing chunky. Even with a smaller lens, the form factor gets a little big -All the weight of the lens and camera will end up on one hand (the one holding the lens) You'll use 1-2 stops in handholdability -No reliable way to get focus confirmation when focusing manually The UGLY: -You think the EOS-M was slow with autofocus? Holy Moses! Most EF lenses, when adapted, work even slower. So bad, you should really prefocus every shot and pray it lock on in time to take your image

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Get this if you have a Canon mirrorless camera I can't think of any reason not to own this lens adaptor. Even if you own just one EF lens, get this adaptor. It will save you in the long run should you decide to expand your photo gear. This is an excellent, well-made adaptor. It is sturdy. It locks onto your EF lens very securely, and it is a breeze to mount and dismount onto your mirrorless camera. I have not noticed any drastic changes in focal length or image quality when using this. All autofocus and image stabilization functions are preserved. The detachable tripod mount is a nice bonus too. A few of my EF telephoto lenses don't have tripod mounts, so having it on the adaptor saved me the need to buy another accessory. A great buy, which I would purchase again if I had to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maximize Your An excellent product that allows one to utilize those EF/EF-S lenses you may currently have/use. I like using the adapter best with Macro & Telephoto work! The live-view screen as well as having no mirror vibration are some of the M's best attributes, and this contibutes much in getting sharp, easy to compose close-up images at any angle. In addition, the supplied t-pod adapter is solid and will not put undue stess on the lens mount when working with heavy EF lenses without a T-pod collar of their own! I even purchased the Canon 2X III for use with my 300mm f/2.8 and the adapter to acheive a 1.6X crop equivalent of 960mm with outstanding results! The macro images are just out of this world good! If you own the M along with many other EOS products, you're missing out on a lot by not having one of these...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Adapter I've Owned! The review is going to be short and simple. I love this adapter! It allows me use all of my EOS mount lenses on my Canon M5 without losing any functions! Haven't noticed any problems. Only feature that doesn't work as well is the constant focusing, it's meant of the Canon M lenses because they're faster at focusing, the other lenses go crazy when the camera keeps telling them to refocus. Hint, turn that feature off!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works perfectly.? Deduct 1 star for price. OK, I know the Canon label tells you it's 100% compatible with Canon gear, and it is subject to high level quality control.? Buy wow!? $200 for a glorified extension tube?? For $100 I'd have given it five stars.? It fits perfectly and allows 100% functionality for Canon lenses.? It also works with my 8-16mm and 18-200mm Canon mount Sigma lenses and one of two Tamron lenses (the 16-300 does not, and so far Tamron has offered no firmware update, simply stating "the 16-300 does not work with mirrorless cameras." The adapter is nicely finished, like any Canon equipment.? It includes an easily removable tripod socket.? Handy with longer or heavier lenses that don't have a tripod foot, like the Canon 24-70 F2.8 or 24-105 F4 or 17mm TS-E or 50 F1.2.? Also a good place to attach your BlackRapid camera strap. High quality adapter with a high price to match.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What It Is Since purchasing the EOS-M a couple of months ago I have found myself increasingly taking it along in my kit on photography outings. I wanted to try an adapter since I purchased the M with only the 22mm lens and I always carry at least a couple of EF and EF-S lens with me on outings with my DSLRs. This adapter has been a 'find' as I can use my EF lens on the EOS-M. I have found the 'nifty fifty' is getting more use as is my excellent EF-S 10-22. I gave 5 stars because the Canon EOS-M adapter is well built/designed and works to perfection with my EF lens and has helped to expand my photography experience.

How do Tamron and Sigma EF lenses work with this ...

How do Tamron and Sigma EF lenses work with this adapter?
    Asked by: Richard
Sigma lenses work as well as Canon EF lenses. I am currently using the Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 lens as my walk around lens on my m50 without any problems.

Will my Canon extender iii work on the m5 with my EF and EF-S lenses?
    Asked by: Robert M.
Unfortunately a Canon teleconverter would not be compatible with the EOS-M system, even with an adapter.

Is there any way to mount an EF 22mm f2.8 M-mount lens on a DSLR camera (full frame)?
    Asked by: Anonymous
An EF lens is made for Canon full frames. EF-S is for EOS Canons (1.6 sensors) and EF-M are for mirrorless. This adaptor allows use of EF and EF-S Canon lenses with their mirrorless cameras only.

Is there any vignetting when used with an EF lens on a Canon M5?
    Asked by: Josaih C.
Hi Jason, I've used the M6 with the Canon lens adapter with no vignetting issue. I've used Canon EF, Sigma, Tamron lenses and they all look crisp and clean. Even the Tamron 70-200 was very clean at all zoom levels. The M5 works beautifully. Would leave to see a larger mirrorless camera from Canon...

Is there any downside to using an EF-S APS-C DSLR ...

Is there any downside to using an EF-S APS-C DSLR lens with this adapter? (For example, lens IS conflicts with IBIS, image cropping on the sensor, any other functionality loss, etc.?)
    Asked by: Curtis
I have not tried all my lenses but, the 100-400 II, or with the 1,4 extender worked very well, 18-135 mm ef-s worked very well, the 40mm and 24mm pancakes worked well also I had no issues and the pictures were better than usable. Hope this will help.
