This is a 3.5mm extension cable, if you have a microphone and recorder with a 3.5mm connection you can use this to extend the cable from the mic to the recorder.

Can this transfer phantom power to a microphone without reducing the quality of the sound?
Asked by: Sky
No, phantom power (48V) is typically transferred through an XLR input on a camera, mixer or recorder, often for shotgun style condenser mics, and large and small diaphragm condenser mics. Perhaps you may be thinking of plug-in power, which is a very low voltage (such as 3 to 5V) supplied through the 3.5mm mic input on devices like cameras or recorders for lavalier style condenser mics. The Pearstone cable can transfer plug-in power, but not phantom power.

question

Hey, I have the Azden SMX-10. I was wondering if this would be a solution to use instead of getting the trrs-> trs adapter? I would like to use my SMX and lavaliere mics on my iPhone and IPad so I don't have to get a separate recording device just yet. Thank you
Asked by: Ty S.
This cable is an extension and only and will connect properly to an iPhone or iPad. It may be used in conjunction with a TRRS adapter. Rode SC6 Dual TRRS Input and Headphone Output for Smartphones B&H # ROSC6

Hi Andrew, if I understand correctly, the audio connector on your camera is a female mini jack (3.5mm) and you want to connect a microphone to it. What kind of connector is on the end of your microphone cable? Is it XLR?
