This Metal Windscreen from Auray is designed to fit the Sony ECM-77 lavalier microphone. The windscreen can be used indoors or outdoors for minimizing noise caused by wind and vocal plosives while also providing protection from dirt and moisture. Its metal grill also protects the microphone from shock. Two windscreens are included.
I have used the Sony ECM-77 for years. As a legal videographer, I routinely use 4 microphones at a time 4 times a week. People are always trying to run off with a microphone attached. The Sony windscreen becomes lose with time and rolls an impressive distance until someone steps on it. I have replaced the windscreens many times. The Auray screens have a tighter fit and are half the price. Don't hesitate buying these.
These work nicely, but when they are on the ECM-77BMP, they are locked on tight. One has to be very careful in removing these with the aid of tools because you do not want to damage the mic capsule. If you need to remove it in order to conceal the mic capsule under clothing for example, it can be a real pain to get these off once they are on the mic. The OEM ones are a more expensive, but they fit a lot better. So, get the originals and don't lose them!
