The Diamond VC500 One Touch USB Video & Audio Capture for Windows works with included software to capture and transfer video, audio, and/or still images from almost any video device to a computer for storage. I've used other vhs to digital converters from amazon and I get red blue and green lines across the screen during the entire tape, but when I watch the tape directly on a tv that doesn't happen. Does this capture device have that issue at all or does it look clear with good color?
That is not normal it sounds like you got some products that were defective. The Diamond VC500 One Touch USB Video & Audio Capture for Windows will record the video without producing any lines or bars. What you get from this capture device should match what you had on the tape and saw on your television.

What quality is the audio if captured from a CD or DVD player via the 3.5mm output jack. Will you have CD quality saved from a CD player?
Depending on the software you are using to capture, you should be able to bring in uncompressed .wav files, thus maintaining the quality of the original stream of audio.

This can capture audio, but it would make a video file first. You would need to the convert to just an audio file. This really would not be the right choice for just audio.
