    TecNec ENG-4 reviews

ENG-4 Press Conference Clamp with Built-In Tripod Legs is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best $ this photographer ever spent This thing and a cheap RF trigger opened up all sorts of possibilities. I clamped it on the motel's 2nd floor balcony railing for a great selfie of us looking up from below. At the family reunion I clamped it on the top of the park's sliding board for a group photo with no hidden faces. Not to mention, when you extend the legs in tripod mode, put on a wide anngle lens and look up at stuff from ground level, you'll see it in a whole new light.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great but fragile As a one man-band I find this indispensable. It goes from clamp to tripod to pistol grip instantly for my shotgun. But the bad news is the plastic is too weak. I've broken 2 already. But I always order a replacement. So long as you realize these are a bit disposable and won't last forever, it's really quite useful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little clamp For hunting and taking wildlife pictures it is a great device. My before videos were shaky and not very good. With this clamp I just shot some great footage in Texas with my small video camera at over 100 yards with no shakes and great clarity.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Virtually useless The clamp is made from such cheap lightweight plastic it is sure to break with any type of use. The swivel top is so weak it will barely support a 6 gooseneck and microphone. If return shipping wasn't 1/2 the cost of the item, I send it back.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Indispensable piece of gear A great piece of gear that gives you a lot of mounting options without taking up much room in the gear bag. Can be deployed in a lot of situations where a full-size tripod may not be practical or allowed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from C-Clamp Tripod Great product more that reasonably priced. I have used it several times and it functions like a charm. The ability to attach or use as a tripod in tight space and remain steady/stable cannot be matched.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from great idea, flawed design, fragile materials Be careful if considering these. Your experience will depend on how you plan on using it. In short, it works reasonably well as a free-standing tabletop tripod for lightweight gear that doesn't get adjusted often. If you need to clamp to things, support heavier equipment (like a mid-size camera), or will be constantly re-adjusting, look elsewhere. I needed to attach two UHF mic antennas (threaded for a mic stand) to a steel frame on a cart for use in a marching band performance and i eventually settled on two of these. One of them just barely survived a single marching season; the other fell to pieces after about 5 weeks and had to be held together with gaff tape. The screw on these is made of plastic, so there is nowhere near enough friction to keep it tightened down. One would tighten, but come loose after a few minutes; the other wouldn't even grip at all. On the one that did tighten, the tip of the screw crumbled and fell off after 1 week. I ended up just gaff taping them into place. The tripod legs swing down and work really well for tabletop use though. The double-jointed arm is a nice touch and allows practically any position you could ever want, but it is also made of the same brittle plastic, and falls to pieces relatively quickly. As long as you're not too rough on it, it will last a reasonable time, but if you're in a rough environment or have heavier gear on it, it will constantly need re-tightened and will break pretty quick. On a positive note: the thread adapters are really nice and almost justify the cost of the whole clamp.
