Logan Graphic Products C5000 Overview

The Logan 5000 8-Ply Handheld Mat Cutter from Logan Graphic Products is an innovative and user-friendly way to cut perfect mats every time. This unique cutter is designed for both 8- and 4-ply mat boards. It provides an ergonomic and comfortable grip plus a depth-adjustable magnetic blade holder. Twist the thumb screw to quickly and easily release the blade cartridge and safely change the blade.

For cutting, align your frame lines accordingly and when you're ready to cut, depress the blade cartridge. Start and stop indicators ensure zero overcuts, and the blade cartridge easily flips for 4- or 8-ply cuts. Compatible with Logan Compact, Artist Elite, and Simplex series mat cutters, it uses 271 (8-ply) replacement blades.

If you're on the fence about purchasing this matte cutter just go ahead and get it! I own the Logan compact elite matte board which is great but by adding the Logan 5000 cutter it has made cutting matte boards a lot easier! The cuts are cleaner and smoother with a lot less effort. The build quality is awesome. It's a tank! Not to mention it's also very comfortable in your hand. Enjoy!

Can the Logan 5000 mat cutter be adjusted to cut any ply/thickness of mat up to 8 ply? It says 4 ply, too, but any other sizes?

This is more for mat board, other cutters are more appropriate for foam board, you want one that cuts not at an angle and handles thicker material.

What is the maximum depth of cut?

That depends on the blade you use. We cut foam board, for example, without any problems.I also found that blade packs sold at Home Depot will fit the Logan, and they are stiffer and last longer than standard blades. The Logan cutter also makes it easy to adjust the depth.I hope this is helpful.
