This is more for mat board, other cutters are more appropriate for foam board, you want one that cuts not at an angle and handles thicker material.

What is the maximum depth of cut?
That depends on the blade you use. We cut foam board, for example, without any problems.I also found that blade packs sold at Home Depot will fit the Logan, and they are stiffer and last longer than standard blades. The Logan cutter also makes it easy to adjust the depth.I hope this is helpful.
