TASCAM HS-2000 Overview

The TASCAM HS-2000 2-Channel Audio Recorder is a professional solid state recorder designed for the needs of broadcast and post-production studios, housed in a 2U rack-mountable chassis.

The unit enables you to record and playback time stamped Broadcast WAV files at up to 96kHz 24-bit resolution, along with Timecode from an SMPTE input source for synchronization, editing, and identification. The unit records the audio onto one or two CompactFlash memory cards for a redundant backup.

The recorder features balanced XLR outputs, a separate balanced XLR monitor output, and Confidence Monitoring for near instantaneous playback in professional broadcast applications.

The unit can be controlled by its TFT tilt touch screen display, D-Sub parallel, serial RC-220, Ethernet, and by RJ-45 port with the optional TASCAM controllers RC-HS20PD or RC-HS32PD.

CompactFlash Memory Cards
  • Advantages compared to other media include fast boot times, silent operation, and less susceptibility to vibration, wear, and changes in temperature or humidity
  • Record to one CompactFlash card at a time or both cards at the same time in Mirror mode to create a redundant backup
  • Record a continuous file similar to a traditional tape machine, or a set of individual files by setting the recorder to Take mode
Confidence Monitoring
Confidence Monitoring allows you to listen to what was previously recorded on the card at 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz almost immediately after it is recorded
Connectivity
  • On-air playback via line-level balanced XLRs
  • Monitoring via stereo balanced XLRs and 1/4" TRS stereo headphone output
  • Digital input and output via AES/EBU
  • SMPTE time code via balanced XLR
  • Video sync via NTSC, PAL, BB, and HD Tri-Level
  • File transfer and recording to USB storage via USB 2.0
Touch Screen Controls
The recorder features a 3.5" color TFT tilt touch screen and simple graphic user interface for easy control of settings, monitoring signal levels, and adding tracks to playlists during playback
Remote Control Options
  • Wired remote control of the HS-2000 is available over RS-422 or RJ-45 remote connection with TASCAM's RC-HS32PD or RC-HS20PD controllers.
  • Flash start of recording can be triggered via parallel port, PS/2 keyboard port, serial RS-422, RS-232c control, or the RC-HS32PD and RC-HS20PD controllers.
  • Network remote control and file transfer is available over Ethernet.
