This Impact BHE-108S Flex Arm for Super Clamp is ideal for supporting small lights, reflectors or other items up to 0.66 lb . Made of flexible aluminum, the 13 mm diameter arm measures 21.65" long and can be twisted into configurations that would be impossible with a jointed articulating arm. One end of the arm has a 3/8" female tapped hex stud to prevent torsion in the Super Clamp. The other end terminates in a 1/4"-20 screw on a 5/8" stud.

What is the reasoning behind using different metal on the fixture ends? The Impact BHE-108 Is brass and the Impact BHE-108S Is steel. I would assume that steel is the strongest and most durable material, so why use brass - is it just a personal choice of aesthetics - where is there a more sound reason?
Brass is less likely to bind and would be easier to take apart. But yes steel would be a bit stronger.

question
I want to use this flex arm with a flat clamp like Pedco UltraClamp Aluminum Support Clamp. I need to clamp onto a 3/8 flat piece of metal and have a flex arm from there. Is there a way? (13)Pedco UltraClamp Aluminum Support Clamp
I don't understand what your trying to do? I found that the arm was not strong enough to hold a light up. I have Alien Bee's they are to heavy. Hope this helps

question
I want to use with a LED monitor that weighs in at 1lb 7 ounces and a super clamp attached to video tripod leg. I don't like the hot shoe mount that came with the Elvid Fieldvision monitor. Do you think this would work?
That will be a little heavy for this, unless you plan to have it point straight down. I don't think it will maintain it's position with that much weight on it.
