Needs improvement.

While it is great to have extension tubes to improve my macro I would have expected that extension tube labeled for Pentax would actually fit the Pentax bayonet mount much better than they do! As it is now they stay on by friction alone. They do not properly fit the Pentax bayonet and lock in place! The results of this is very slow lens changes because you really have to grip these things and turn them hard to get them free from the camera. I don't reccomend these unless you have no other option!

A tight fit

I was very excited to get my extension tubes for my K-5 as they are not available for Pentax in South Africa. The first time I put it on, I had to have the adapter ring removed professionally as the fit on the K-5 is EXTREMELY tight. My Pentax 50mm f1.8 does not fit on it either. What a disappointment and waste of money!!!!!

Cheap stuff

This product is cheap, and it looks and feels cheap too! It is not well finished, the threads don't run smoothly and it is hard to attach it to the camera. It doesn't seem made for the Pentax K cameras.

Trust the ratings

First time I used these extension tubes, the ring that attaches to the lens became stuck on my lens. The release button jammed and snapped. Fortunately I have a set of jewelers Phillips head screw drivers and was able to take apart the extension ring to remove the pin holding it to the lens. I can still use the extension tubes, but they no longer locks in place since I have removed the locking pin/release button. I would not purchase again.

Preferred Other Models

So we have three (3) bellows that can be used individually or added together to get the correct macro focus. Simple, right? It would be, except this comes in five (5) pieces--to maintain certain automatic features--the front and back piece which have to be taken on and off every time you add or remove an extension. Who came up with that idea? The M42 manual extension set of three (3) pieces was both *manual* and *three pieces* (that you could just add or swap as you pleased), and worked fine with a K10D. It would have been nice if this manual set followed suit. The designer decided people would want auto aperture or just a plain lens signal to register through these, necessitating the two extra pieces. That's a lot of extra work to go through for a feature not needed for this type of photography. And maybe for novices or occasional fun that's a feature. When it comes to getting work done, this has one purpose only: move the lens further away from the film (sensor). Just keep in mind with this manual model you'll have to mess with the outer signal pieces to add an extension to the bellows.
