The V-4 Articulating Boom Arm from Velbon is a support that features a geared/slide elevator with a 180° tilt arm and a 360° horizontal pan. More versatile than a traditional side-arm, it fits onto almost any tripod, thanks to the included 1/4" and 3/8" mounting threads, and it can accommodate most tripod heads via the end pedestal which has a 1/4" screw.

A single twist of the grip at the end of the multi-angle arm loosens both the tilt and rotation, and when the arm is in the desired position, a twist of the grip in the opposite direction re-engages the lock and the arm is fixed again. It's particularly useful for macro photography, copying and any other application where fine adjustment of the camera position is required.

V-4 Articulating Boom Arm is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very Lightweight I bought this boom with a Manfrotto 410 head and Velbon Super Mag Slider for my Canon EOS 5D mk II. No way is this is workable combination. The camera, head, and focus rail are way too heavy for this boom. The connection to the tripod is very small (no surface area) and works loose with almost no effort at all. Very shaky, which doesn't satisfy my needs (I shoot 30-40 pictures with focus stacking and can't afford the shaking). Would probably work okay with a smaller camera, no focus rails, and no tripod head. That is, connecting a camera directly to this guy and shooting straight down would probably work out okay (which is why I gave it three stars rather than less). For lightweight work (and light cameras), probably can't be beaten for the price. For the work I do, I'll have to look for something better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the right Tool I'm doing videos that require a view of my hands. I can set this up and sit under the boom and get a vertical and downward view of my hands as I make my paracord bracelet and lanyard demo's for Youtube. It is just the right length. You will need to get a ball mount for the end to achieve this purpose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again I use the V-4 articulating arm mounted on a Gitzo GT3541 tripod to do product photography. A Fuji XT2 with 60 mm macro and ball head are installed at the end of the arm. This setup is very solid and sturdy. A Nikon D800E / 105mm macro lens also works with this arm but is not as sturdy. This arm would be 5 stars if the ball head screw adapter would have been a reversible 3/8 to 1/4 instead of simple 1/4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous. I'm an avid macro photographer and shoot frequently, often with two friends. They have also purchased the boom arm after seeing mine. They love it too. Don't know how I managed without it. It makes minor adjustments easy, accurate and quick in every direction. from Tandembob's wife
