The RD16 II Advanced Rotator for Panoramas from Nodal Ninja has a total of 16 different selectable detent intervals, including 3.75-120°. This rotator also has a 62mm foot nadir footprint (diameter), and is best suited for ultra wide fisheye lenses when capturing full 360 x 180° spherical panoramas.

Combining anodized aluminum parts with a lubricated inner ball bearing design, the RD16 II also provides the very precise, fluid rotation required of professional photographers. You can change click stops on-the-fly, which is ideal in time-sensitive situations, which includes shooting high resolution multi-image mosaics, or shooting the same scene at different focal lengths.

For 360 x 180° Spherical & HDR Panoramas

With precisely machined components, laser engraved markings, and lubricated bearings you can capture full spherical panoramas both quickly and accurately

62mm Diameter/Nadir Footprint

Diameter of 62 mm provides sufficient precision and stability while keeping the nadir footprint small

16x Selectable Detent Intervals

This advanced rotator has 16 different degree stop increments which correspond to a 3.75-120° range of detent intervals. While the detent interval (click-stop) option can also be changed in seconds, some of these specifically require both of the two included plungers, and an included knob locks the rotation into place

Up to 24lb Supported Weight Capacity

This rotator supports 24 lb (11 kg) of weight, and is designed for ideally half of that, at 12 lb (5.5 kg)

Change Detent Interval in Seconds

As quickly as you can pull one of the two plungers out of a detent interval, you can change the number of stops and degrees at which your rotator will stop

Laser Engraved Indexing Marks

High precision lasers were used to engrave the indexing marks on this rotator every 2.5°

Built-In 3/8"-16 Bottom Thread

Attach the rotator to any compatible 3/8"-16 screw or adapter, allowing you to use tripods, stands or other stabilization methods
Designed to mount on lower rail systems of current Nodal Ninjas using anti-twist sockets and M6 female thread with supplied 1/4 hex screw

I prefer this larger rotator for my ninja nodal bracket as it has more settings.

No instructions, give you replacement parts no idea what some are used for. Does not always click at settings so you have to start all over again. Wish I did not buy it.

A few issues

Does not come with an instruction sheet but sort of a manual is on-line. but no explanation of what the included parts are for. Bigger issue is that it only seems to fit easily on the nodal ninja pano set. In order to mount a ball head, I needed to screw in an Arca-Swiss clamp into the top of the rotator and then an Arca-Swill plate into a ball head.

Worth the price

Plan on using for all of my panos. The preset stops are a godsend. Especially in low or no light.

Compression screw is so small but it is working well

rotator is good desing and working well but I tried to show 2 pictures how it looks like on different 2 leveler Compression screw is so small an is close to base, I think that it is not big deal because when you already use rotator, I have not experiance about rotator but my opinion you will not to need to see chart of anle degree when you work it

Panos at night? Piece of cake!

It took a little research to marry this thing with my RRS gear. But, once I got it straightened out, this thing makes panos hassle free, especially at night!

Works as Advertised

I bought this to use for nightime astrophotography as it is difficult to use other rotation devices accurately for specific degree rotations without viewing the degree indicators ( of course you can use lights which can be distracting and temporally effect night vision). With click stops you will keep the rotation accurate and more efficient. I just mount another head on top of it ( in my case an Aractec Panoramic Head). You will need a 8mm to 3/8 adapter for this to work with other ball heads other than the Ninja setup.

question

I have a Vanguard Alta Pro 263 with a Canon 5d Mark lll, Do you think that this Nodal fit on it?
Asked by: Yves G.
You take the head off the Vanguard Alta Pro 263 tripod and the Nodal Ninja RD16 II has a 3/8th female thread so it will attach to it. But the top has a M6 female thread and that is designed for a Nodal Ninja head like the Nodal Ninja NN4 Tripod Head. We only have that with the RD16ll in a kit.Nodal Ninja NN4 Tripod Head with RD16 II Rotator for Panoramas B&H # NON4RD162 MFR # F4503

The top centre hole is tapped M6. How deep is the tap? I want to use my own screws & clamps on top.
Asked by: Dennis
The whole is about 1cm deep, and can confirm, it is about 7 full rotations of a screw until it bottoms out.

will it work with modak ninja 3 Mk3? Will it fit on Manfrotto 055 Xpro tripod directly?
Asked by: Yogesh
Yes. It is designed to mount on lower rail systems of current Nodal Ninjas using anti-twist sockets and M6 female thread with supplied 1/4 hex screw. It has the standard 3/8"-16 mounting thread for tripods, which the 055XPRO also uses.

question

I have a Manfrotto MT294A3 tripod and was wondering if this head was univeral & would work on it. I did not see that type of info under the description. Thanks in advance for your response.wlm
Asked by: Anonymous
The bottom of the pan head is 3/8 which is standard for most tripods. But the top is not standard. There are others that are standard. Manfrotto makes one, http://bhpho.to/1mb07mwThe top is 3/8 so you can attach a head to that. If you want to attach the camera direct there is an adapter plate, http://bhpho.to/1fenQSp

Good morning, I followed the suggestions in an article called, "MATING REALLY RIGHT STUFF AND NODAL NINJA PANORAMIC GEAR" by John Witsell. The article contains photos and details re: John's setup. IMO, easier to read his details versus stumbling though my instructions. I hope the link helps
