Impact LS-RL7 overview

  • 1Description

This Impact LS-RL7 7.2' Reverse Legs Light Stand is a lightweight support that's ideal for location work or in the studio for use with a small lights or to hold reflectors. This is one of the few stands to be able to sit completely flush to the floor where they can be taped down or sandbagged to stabilize its load. The LS-RL7's unique design allows the legs to fold up around the central risers somewhat like an inverted umbrella. The result is a 7.2' light stand that breaks down to only 19.5" - short enough to fit in even the smallest light kit bags. The stand is topped with a 5/8" mounting stud with 3/8" threads, a 3/8" 1/4"-20 adapter, and weighs just 2.6 lb.

    Impact LS-RL7 reviews

LS-RL7 7.2' Reverse Legs Light Stand is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 40.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid lightstand you can bring on a plane I purchased this stand because I am a traveling wedding photographer. I needed a tall light stand you put my Alienbees 1600 on. I previously used the Manfrotto nano, which was good but just not tall enough. In terms of construction I give the LS-RL7 an A-. It has all metal legs and column, although the clamps are plastic. Don't get me wrong this thing looks like you could set it up then beat someone with it. I am very satisfied with it's construction. It extends to over 7' when fully set up. Although when I set it up with the legs fully extended its about 7' right on the dot. It holds my 5 point strobe great. What I love is that it's tall and it fits inside my luggage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from This is my first time owning a stand.... so I guess its ok.. I really don't have anything to compare it to so here's whats good.. height, compactness, base could be used flat or used as a tripod for additional ht if needed... Now for the dislike.. and it seems as only one.. all the mid extending sections seem to tighten just fine.. the upper limit section where you would attach an LED is sloppy.. It wobbles a bit and you really have to ape tork the nut tight to keep the shaft from sliding down.. Today 3/7/18 was the first time I looked at the stand since buying it.. maybe 2 weeks ago..not sure if I'll send it back for an exchange, or try a different manufacturer..

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So Glad I Bought These I wish I had the money or the crates to bring C stands with me on location, but I don't. Two of these little guys fit in my Pelican carry-on and work great with cheapie softboxes. You can sandbag or gaff tape these things to almost anything and they lock down tight. I'm never worried that the extensions will collapse or the legs will give out. I ended up using the included adapters on my most recent shoot to mount a slider to my tripod and a monopod. Great product. Will keep my eye out for other Impact items. I wouldn't put a big fresnel light on one of these, but they'll handle your CFL softboxes, umbrellas, clamp lights, and reflectors all day long. I'd also make sure the legs are fully extended, taped, and sandbagged if you use them outside. I had one try to blow over when I had a softbox on it. Just use common sense.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little stand I purchased one to test out as an alternative to larger, heavier stands. It works great. A lot like a Dedo stand, but slightly beefier. It's good for travel because it is relatively light and compact but sturdy and tall enough for most jobs. All metal construction except for the knobs and foot protectors - the section clamps ARE metal. This is a great alternative/replacement to the less than popular Lowel Uni-TO stands. The threaded adapter on top makes it useful for mounting a variety of lights, strobes, and grip hardware. Just ordered 2 more!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Small but flimsy! This light stand is a great tool for the traveler photographer who shoots indoor and want to be light and quick with portable gear. However, when it comes to work outside, this stand becomes very unstable! The entire construction is very weak, the locks are flimsy and they don't fasten as good as they should. Also, when set up with the legs straightened out on the floor, it is barely 6 feet tall, which is simply not enough for most situations. Since the entire construction is very thin, this stand is not suited for larger umbrellas or soft boxes either. Fort these reasons, I decided to get another one (B&H # IMLS8A), which was a bit longer while folded, but has air-cushion to prevent damage that this one doesn't have, reaches much higher up to 8 feet, stronger and barely any heavier, while also costs less! So, unless small folded size is an absolute necessity, I would recommend to look elsewhere and find a light stand with much better construction and stability.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works great with a tablet holder as a music stand. I use this stand as a music stand in conjunction with my Auray IPU-103 Universal Tablet Stand Adapter. Works great! The description is a little misleading. It says it has a 5/8 top stud, which it does I guess, but it DOES NOT have 5/8 threads for a standard microphone holder. The threads are 3/8. The problem is easily remedied by purchasing a 3/8-to-5/8 adapter. The photo shows the legs out flat, which takes up too much floor space for a music stand, but the stand also works fine with the legs folded down a bit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good stand at good price! This stand works great for my needs. It's lightweight, extends pretty high, has reversible legs so it folds down nice and compact and travels well. Why pay more? This is a great stand.
