Nanuk 945 Reviews
You don't think you need it, until you have it
After organising in various backpacks...the gear started to build and the video/photo work became more complex; this organiser has been incredibly helpful. The way this organises and lays everything out so you can see what you have at a glance is a big improvement. With room for larger things like lights (Aeos 2) along with smaller things, in a protective hard shell is simply huge improvement. Left the backpacks in the closet.
Excellent case
I own several Pelican cases & had heard about Nanuk so I thought I would try one. They seem to be as well made as a Pelican with the a rugged material and design. I like the locks on the side which aid in keeping the lid sealed. The handle has is spring loaded and once released falls back into a flat position (as in the picture). My only concern would be if you had to send it back for warranty work which is in Canada and would probably be expensive for shipping. But I highly recommend this case.
Good Case at a Good Price
We now have five Nanuk cases in use nearly every day. They are all well built with very good latching systems. Mostly carrying monitors and camera accessories, these cases get knocked around pretty good. None have failed which makes me think they're indestructible. We will be buying more Nanuk brand cases as the need arises.
One step behind Pelican
Nanuk makes a good case however comparing it to Pelican I feel its a step behind. The material Pelican cases are made of seem to be a bit tougher and therefore able to withstand more abuse. The latches on the Nanuk also seem to be made of plastic and I worry about them over time breaking which brings me to my next point. If you have to send a Nanuk case in for warranty work they are made in Canada and will cost a small fortune in shipping fees to and from the factory. So for my money in the future I think I'll spend the extra few dollars on a Pelican which is made in the USA and it seems to be more rugged & durable.
A Best Buy!!!
I bought this so I could haul my lighting gear. Godox AD200pro's, Godox V1, extra batteries, chargers, adapters, etc. The S2 adapter will be eventually replaced with the Godox Dual Power Flash Bracket for AD200. The Lid organizer is great. This equipment is in only 1 layer of the pluck foam, giving me an additional layer for more equipment. It's sturdy, rugged and light. It's a worthwhile investment.
I can pack all my lighting heads in one case.
I am assembling my kit to be able to take my lighting heads for on-site photography as well as in my small studio. The 945 Case is ideal for my Godox AD200pro Heads (2), Godox V1, Trigger, extra batteries, cables/chargers, gels and other accessories. I still have space for a 3rd head/strobe and the Godox Dual Power Flash Bracket. I used only one pluck tray which means I have extra space to expand my setup if need be. The Nanuk Lid Organizer for 945/960 Case (Black) (sold separately) is a great addition.
Better than Pelican!!!
These cases are better than pelican cases! The latches, construction and lid organizers are far superior. I will be buying all Nanuck from now on! Just ordered two more today!
Check dimensions carefully before you buy.
First I bought a Nanuk 909 - which turned out to be pretty much too small. Next I bought a Nanuk 945 - which is full on suitcase sized big. Nice cases, but one is way too small and the other is way to big to be of much use to me. It would be nice if Nanuk was more upfront with the case dimensions rather than just model numbers. Good cases, but I'm still looking for the goldylocks size.
