Canon CLI-42 reviews

CLI-42 Eight-Color Ink Tank Pack is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 257.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from You have to feed the photo printer Recently I purchased a Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and I just love the prints that come off of it. But you have to keep replacing the ink tanks -- that's life in the photo printing world. I have kept an accurate tabulation of ink consumption with my printing of landscape and flower images, normalized to the inked area of an 8.5 x 11 size. To date I have gotten the following such print counts (equivalent) for each color tank: M=88, PC=80, Y=60, BK=80, GY=60, PM=55, LGY=55, C=165+. Different subject matter will consume these color tanks at different rates. One great feature of this printer is that it will stop an active print when a particular tank runs out (and it really has zero ink left!) and you can continue that print once you have replaced the empty ink tank. You don't loose the print.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Some of the best inks I have ever used. I recently purchased a Canon Pixma Pro 100 printer from you and I am happy to say that after a month of use, the printer is functioning flawlessly and has turned out prints in all sizes with excellent results. The Canon inks have always had a nicer tonal quality and a smoother gradation between colors than most of the other brands I have tried. This new Canon is the first one I have owned to use the Chroma-Life inks which are advertised to have a life of at least 100 years when the archival paper is used with them. I have also observed that the printer does not appear to use a lot of ink compared to a printer from another manufacturer that I use for some of my less important work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice range of color The inks work great in my new Canon Pro-100 printer, even though the yellow looked brown compared to all the other Canon yellow I have used in the past. The tanks are shrink-wrapped in tough plastic. A tear strip is supposed to offer quick entry AND vent opening at the same time, but it did not work very well. Two of the strips tore loose without opening the vent, and most required a pocket knife to finish freeing the tanks. The vent is important: About a half inch of the tape is supposed to tear off the top of the tank, uncovering the vent hole. These tanks fit only one printer -- the Pro-100, so I worry about future availability.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would purchase this again The ink quality is excellent. One must go through a learning curve to get one's prints correct, but once they are set, they can be saved in the print dialog for each one. I have printed two 14 month 2018 full bleed 13 x 19 calendars, two-sided and about 20 11 x 14 images of my artwork prints and most of my ink tanks are half full to nearly full. The light gray seems to go the fastest. It is the only one I have had to replace. The printer warns you when you are about to run out of ink. However, I made about six more prints before it said that the ink was exhausted. It did not run out on a print so that it wasted it as some reviewers have complained. The tanks, which are just cartridges, light up red when they are installed correctly, and the red light blinks on the one that is empty. That is a nice feature so that you don't replace the wrong one accidentally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No need to look elsewhere I recently purchased the Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer from B&H. I like to keep a spare set of cartridges on hand to ensure that I'm not caught short. B&H is the only place to buy this product as far as I'm concerned. The price is better than the competition and I always receive my product before the estimated delivery date. I have been dealing with B&H for more years than I care to remember, beginning with phone orders in the late 60's. I have since migrated to using the internet to place my orders. I can truthfully say that in all of those years and all of those orders, I have never been disappointed with either the product or the service. Thank you B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best possible prints with Canon CLI 42 ink for Pixma Pro-100 I print fine art images on a variety of standard and museum quality paper. Over the years I have tried a dozen different printers, and dozens of different papers. Every element in the image chain is important. Especially the paper selection and the original manufacturer's ink. I get dazzling results from the CLI-42 8 color ink tanks from Canon paired with the Pixma Pro-100 printer. I do not need the world's fastest printer, but I do insist on the highest quality results. Also be sure to properly color calibrate your monitors to insure print fidelity. Yes, it is expensive (although prices have gone down since my last purchase), but the results justify every single penny. I highly recommend both the Pixma Pro-100 printer and the CLI-42 ink.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Always good After moving, it took a while to get settled in and get the printer set up and operational. Once I did, I noticed that the printer cartridges had gone bad and were leaving streaks and splotches. Nothing against them, that's just what happens when they go unused for too long as I understand it. After swapping them out with new ones I was back up and running. I printed out 7 13X19 photos to put up in my classroom which were initially well received. I don't think most of them thought too much about it until they were informed that they were my photos printed by me, not something bought and or printed elsewhere. That's when I had their attention. Always good results from the printer and I've never used anyone else's ink other than from Canon.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from CANON INK IS INK I rate ink 3 stars because i absulutely feel ripped off everytime i buy ink. over a $100 to fill my printer seems like getting the bad end of the deal. Wether it is Epson or Canon. To me it is all the same. I need it like I need my * bank and they manage to over charge me as well for no apparent reason but the fact that I need it.
