question

I am a little concerned about the charge-coupled electronic shutter since no other camera has it. Any negatives about this type of shutter?
Asked by: Nick
The charge coupled electronic shutter in the Nikon D5200, does not cause any special problems, and users are very happy with that D5200 camera.

question

Would this be a good camera for personal/travel photography, as well as web series? (Think short films 4-7mins). I am nervous to grab a Sony because Nikon/Canon have a stronger reputation as per my sphere of reference.
Asked by: Jordan M.
the Nikon D5200 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens is a good personal, and travel camera, as well as good for video for the Web. The ability to record sound during the video recording is a feature that benefits from external microphones. Being able to use many different fine Nikon lenses, is also a very good reason to choose a Nikon DSLR.

question

What is the difference between a Charge-Coupled Electronic shutter and a mechanical shutter?
Asked by: Nick
An electronic shutter would allow the user to shoot at a higher continuous rate and in some cases, making the camera operate more quietly. A mechanical shutter may not trigger as fast as an electronic shutter, but it will allow for flash functions such as high speed sync to be used, depending on the camera model.

question

Will this work in a commercial studio situation shooting product with electronic flash?
Asked by: Nick
That depends a lot on the amount of use and what you are photographing. I bought this for my daughter because she kept taking my D300. The D5200 is a lot newer and has better technology but it is a lot smaller than my D300. I think of the thousand 5200 etc series as a very capable consumer camera and the hundred D800 etc series as a midrange Professional camera with the single number cameras like the D5 the top of the scale. This camera will work with my flash commander to use with slave flashes but if I had to hold the camera I would want the bigger sized body. My daughter loves the camera and is extremely happy with it. She is a very good photographer so any camera will do the job but she loves the smaller body because she has smaller hands. The lenses are all interchangeable with my D300 so she has a lot of options available. However she finds the included lense is perfect for city style candid photos.
