The Sony ECM-XYST1M Stereo Microphone is compatible with Handycam camcorders, Cyber-Shot cameras, Alpha/NEX cameras, and any other camera that has a Sony Multi Interface Shoe. The Multi Interface Shoe passes the audio directly to your camera, so no additional cable is required. For use with cameras that don't have a Multi Interface Shoe, you can connect the microphone to the mic input jack on your camera using an included stereo mini-jack cable. The directional angle of the mic capsules can me manually adjusted from 0° to 120°, allowing you to fine-tune your audio capture according to the setting. Plus, an included windscreen enhances audio quality further by cutting down on wind noise pickup.

Sony ECM-XYST1M Reviews
Improved recorded audio
The Sony ECM-XYST1M Stereo Microphone easily fit my Sony Handycam HDR-CX900. There was a big improvement in recorded audio over the internal multidirectional microphone. The audio is clearer with a higher signal to noise ratio. I would recommend this product.
Works - Kind of...
I bought this for use with my A7SIII and A7IV. The microphone works, but a) there is no volume control, b) no way to turn off auto-leveling, and c) both cameras report that they do not regognize it as a supported digital audio device, even though audio is delivered through the digital shoe interface. I found the captured audio to be very bright - compared, for instance tht eaudio captured by my Zoom 4K vide recorder. I was debating giving four stars since it was functional, but really I expect a better user experience from Sony, especially when using their own accessories.
Mic for my Sony A 6000
I have a sailboat and if I want you shoot some video with my camera there is always some, or a lot, of wind noise. It's no longer sailing season, but I checked out this external mic on a windy day. It worked very nicely! I'm glad I purchased it from B&H Photo. : - )
It is inexpensive and truly the best mics.
Works supper, compact and clear sound.
Great microphone
Great microphone. Works very well. I am pleased. Somewhat hard to get onto the Sony a X 100. But after putting on a few times it got a little easier to do. Thank you -Scott
works
Sound is good the stereo works well
Fantastic Mic for YouTube videos
This Mic works perfect for me. I was worried it would not pick me up good since I am behind the camera but it does. It picks up my voice really nice and super clean. It actually sounds better than the external mic I was using. I highly recommend this Mic for video recording.
Sony hot shoe mic for Sony AX-700
Needed a small, hot shoe stereo mic for recording some outdoor concerts with the Sony FDR-AX700... mic works great, but had to get a more robust dead cat...otherwise great unit!
