    Impact LSA-BASB reviews

Boom Arm (Black, Chrome-plated, 86") is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent Engineering for a decent price I bought the black one because I don't like dealing with extraneous reflections that can occur with chrome. This black boom arm works smooth and is easily adjustable (lengthened, shortened, rotated, balanced, etc...). It mounts to the stud on the top of the stand (which is the most practical and sensible location). I also like the pivot mechanism of this boom. I is a CNC machined aluminum plate that pivots on a shoulder bolt directly over the light stand stud (again, best place for the fulcrum). The boss of the pivot plate is CNC rough milled to allow for better gripping action of the ratcheting pivot clamp handle. Overally I would say this is good deal. Buy with confidence. I am not a paid spokes person, I am a hard working photographer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This Boom arm doesn't fit on Impact C stand I am very disappointed. I bought 2 C-Stands from Impact. These stands are great and I was very happy with the C Stands and I was thinking to buy this Boom Arm for the stand. This Boom Arm doesn't fit well on the male stud from the C stand. Is shaking like It was made by another company. I don't understand how do they did such a bad job. I am very frustrated about this. I will never buy any other IMPACT products. I hope BH Photo will give another option regarding my issue. This thing should stay like a concrete but is shaking like it will fall down in the next minute. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Decent Quality for Reasonable Load Using this with an LED light panel so it's not testing the loading for stability or deformation, but the hardware is beefy and easy to operate. The elevation adjust uses a two-point lock (a bold and the clamp) and the radiused track has a rough milled surface for traction. One minor concern is the depth of the 5/8 female socket. I put this on an Impact C-stand and, like another reviewer noted, it wobbles around. I think it would not wobble if the socket were deeper. However, adding a thin nylon sleeve over the 5/8 C-stand pin resolved the issue. Overall it works fine for my application and using a 5 lb counterweight (sandbag) on the hook helps to balance it when making adjustments.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Decent build quality First I must say that I have only used this boom arm on two jobs so far. The build quality is decent. It does require a heavy duty stand and a sufficient count wight. I would recommend a combo stand or C-stand. Be aware that under load, and extended, the arm tends to bind a little, which makes it difficult to make fine adjustments to the light's position. I am not sure how this wear will effect the boom arm over time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than a boom stand I found that using, packing, moving, and storing this boom arm was much lighter and easier to maneuver than the boom stands, which tend to be very heavy and bulky. The unit is well made and handles the soft box and strobes without even a bend in the arm. The hook on the end is perfect, especially since I tend to hang bags filled with water bottles rather than use a sand bag.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor quality This item fell apart four months after its warranty expired even though it was used under its recommended load baring capacity. Very disappointed with this purchase indeed.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It’ll do the job... I wish I would’ve went for a c-stand with the extension arm. Reason being is because it’s a little heavier than anticipated. The mounting points are slightly off, so there is a little shake when mounting to your stand, as well as a little shake when mounting a light. The etching in the joint is also sloppy. Impact does a great job at getting us products comparable in quality at affordable prices, but this would not make my list of impact products worth raving about.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great telescoping boom Very pleased with this boom arm. I've only used typical long booms in studio in the past. But as a freelancer who shoots on location I needed something a little more compact for traveling. This arm was perfect and just as sturdy as any arm I've used in studio. Obviously this arm doesn't have the conveniences to adjust the strobe with the hand crank at the end of the arm, but I knew that going into this purchase.
