Sigma 60mm f/2.8 overview

  • 1Description

The black 60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras from Sigma is a prime lens compatible with Sony E-mount cameras. With a 90mm focal length equivalent in the 35mm format, this is a mid-range telephoto length lens with numerous applications including portraiture. A maximum aperture of f/2.8 provides shallow depth of field and makes this lens effective in low light. The minimum focus distance on this lens is 19.7" (50 cm) and its maximum magnification ratio is 1:7.2. A newly developed linear auto focus motor provides accurate and quiet focusing which is ideal when shooting video. With Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements and glass molded aspherical elements, this lens minimizes chromatic aberrations for sharp, high resolution images. A seven-bladed diaphragm creates an attractive blur in the out of focus areas.

    Sigma 60mm f/2.8 reviews

60mm f/2.8 DN Lens for Sony E-mount Cameras (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 70.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Outstanding performance, tiny cost This lens is razor sharp wide open, with lovely OOF characteristics, or what the experts on the net refer to as bokeh. Like the 19/2.8 and the 30/2.8 Sigmas for the E mount, this lens is destined for cult statusan accolade made even more amazing considering its truly inexpensive cost. These three lenses are the basic kit for all NEX owners, I feel. AF is fast; MF aids on the NEX 6 in particular allow you to focus accurately on a sitter's iris, and be certain you have nailed focus. My only reservation is the new shiny finish of the focussing barrel; I prefer a bit more grip, but I will get used to it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp lens at wide open I am using this lens on Sony NEX-5N.Optically you cannot ask more at this price. It is a very solid lens (metal construction) except lens hood (plastic). Personally, I do not like very wide and slippery surface of the focusing ring, but functionally it moves very smoothly and nice dampen feeling. You feels something rattling inside the lens when it was off. If you turn on the camera, there is no rattling inside the lens as other sigma DN lens for NEX.It seems like shaper than 19mm or 30mm Sigma DN lenses and even sharpness throughout the image. It comes with a nice lens case.If you like sharp lens, I highly recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great lens! The noise is normal. Very sharp, even wide open, even sharper than the Sony 50mm f1.8. Light and small. These Sigma lenses have a little noise when NOT in use, as if a pebble is loose inside the unit. I called Sigma customer service. This is by DESIGN. There is some kind of magnet that floats when in use, and when not in use, simply knocks around. I don't get why this was necessary but it sure does work well.I love having this defacto 90mm (35mm equivalent) for taking portraits. Check the ratings at Dxomark, their list of recommended lenses. This is #2, just under the $ Zeiss 55mm, and it sells for under $

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth every penny. I have been in photography for over 40 years and have purchased Sigma lenses before and have been very satisfied with the products for the money. I purchased a Sony a6000 in October of last year with the Sony 16 - 50 mm lense and decided rather quickly that I wanted a low light prime lens that I could use for portrate photography and lower light work. I read a lot of reviews by many independent sites and the most useful was U Tube showing hands on comparisons with other companies like lenses. I purchased the sigma 60mm Art prime lense and can't believe the quality and how well this lens works with my a6000 . This lens is worth a lot more than what I paid for it, Quality and Precision .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from wow, what a great lens The reviews of this lens are pretty high, so I was expecting a lot. And i wasn't disappointed. It's a fun focal length to work with on the A6000, making it a mild telephoto. The thing that is most noticeable is how sharp it is. Comments have been made about it easily scratching, but if you handle it carefully, it should stay looking new for a long time. Maybe i was lucky with this particular lens but so far I have loved all the shots I have taken. And as is often mentioned, you can't go wrong for the price. I am still waiting for the 19mm, but that one has been back-ordered for a really long time. For now I will work with this one and see what it is best at. Great lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp as can be I bought this for my Sony a6300. I was skeptical of the glowing reviews, as my Sigma 30 isn't as sharp as I would hope, but.... This lens is very, very sharp corner to corner, optimum at f/5.6. I shot with the camera tripod-mounted at ISO 100, and triggered the Sony with the Sony IR remote, 2-second delay. I examined all my test images (a flat wall of trees at 90') in Lightroom 6, MacBook 13.3 Retina screen, magnified to 1:1 and to 2:1. At 1:1, where the image size is about at what a 16x24 print would be, it is outstanding. Not bad at all at 2:1. Having been a landscape photographer with 4x5, I am indeed a pixel-peeper. I'm more than peeped with this lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding I normally shoot Leica and other premium glass on the NEX-7, and also shoot a Nikon D800E. I am extremely picky about sharpness. I took some test shots with this lens at f2.8 and was fairly blown away with the stellar image quality (just as the Photozone graphs depicted). I have tried a number of the Sony NEX lenses and was alway disappointed (with the exception of the 10-18mm f4). This lens, however, is a winner! I cannot believe the incredible cost/performance ratio. This is a must-have portrait lens for the NEX system. Also, the bokeh is quite pleasant.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid Performer Over the years I have not been impressed with Sigma's lenses. The ones I owned lacked sharpness and produced dull looking colors. Then a year ago I read some reviews of Sigma's new Art series lenses and was impressed by the IQ of these lenses. I decided to give one a try and found it to be superb in all aspects, from auto-focus speed, sharpness to color rendering. Also the build quality was greatly improved. So when I added a Sony a6000 to my kit, I decided to try their E-mount lenses. The lenses are well build, come with a case, lens hood and rear cap. They are light weight, mount quickly to the camera and focus quickly. In short they are a great value for the money and produce great looking images!
