Westcott 2032 overview

  • 1Description

The Westcott Rapid Box Strip lives up to its name by providing a soft quality of light for your shoe-mount flash that sets up and breaks down in a fraction of the time as most competitors. The 10 x 24" narrow rectangular shape lends itself to use as a hairlight, backlight or rim light to separate the subject from the background. The long shape also creates elegant highlights on glassware and other reflective objects. The box comes complete with a tilting 5/8" receiver stand mount/shoe mount/speed ring combo that disengages quickly from the box allowing it to close like an umbrella.

The 1.0 stop diffusion front face is removable revealing a highly reflective, high-output silver interior. You can soften the light further and defeat hotspots with the separate purchase of the optional 2030-DP Deflector Plate (BH # WE2030DP).

Robust and Durable
The Rapid Box is constructed from solid aluminum to minimize weight, yet retain durability.
Quick Setup and Tear Down
The Rapid Box opens and closes like an umbrella. No support rods or adapter ring needed. Everything is compact and easy to use.
Sleek and Compact
With a shallow depth, the Rapid Box works in virtually any lighting situation. No matter which box you choose. The Rapid Box series is always compact.
Soft Even Lighting
A screw-in reflector plate will minimize any hot spot. The front diffusion material is the same quality as found on Westcott's current high-quality soft boxes.
Fully Adjustable Stand Bracket
The height and depth are adjustable and compatible with virtually all shoe-mounted flashes.
Utilize Your Speedlight Without the Need for Radio Triggers
External speedlight placement allows firing via built-in slaves and/or IR line-of-site.
Carry Case Included
Durable carry case with shoulder strap is included for simple transportation and storage.

    Westcott 2032 reviews

Rapid Box Strip - 10x24" is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 32.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick set up-production inconsistent I bought 2 of these, one as a part of the Rapid Box 2 light kit and one separate so I could have two strip boxes. It is very easy to set up, it is a bit expensive especially when you add the grid--$99 yikes! However for portability I think it is a good investment. Good quality construction on the nylon part. On of the units the speedring took some effort to turn and seemed a bit more warped. Hoping that will ease up over time and with consistent use. Also get the deflector dish for this to reduce hotspots. Should have come with it but it didn't. Be prepared to pay over almost $300 for the whole kit and caboodle for just one of these.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fast, practical, good results Really happy with this. Because it's so small, it needs to be quite close order to be effective just out of frame. But that's okay, because I don't have much space to work in anyway. I use this with radio-trigger flashes and the results are great. In another review, someone suggests that the interior support mechanism causes several stops to be lost. There's probably a little loss, but I'm not sure it's all that. Obviously, any diffuser is going to cause a reduction in power. One thing I learned is that the diffuser is so small that your flash isn't very far back, and it can end up too focused. Make sure you flip down your flash's built-in wide-angle panel, or else use a sto-fen style push on diffuser. (See the photo I'm attaching.)A tip: make sure you flip your flash's wide-angle diffuser down, and Only downside is that the price seems a little gratuitous but I'm confident that I'll be using this for enough years that it's not a big deal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A decent modifier I just got my stip box and octabox today. The compact size when folded up and stored in their cases is amazing. Setup is fast and easy and I can't wait to try them outdoors. they should be great for travel as I am about to find out. The diffuser panel attaches easily with only two small Velcro patches in the middle of the long sides and a wrap-around fit over the edge of the box. It secures well and looks like it will stay in breezy conditions. I too wish the reflector was included as I ordered it at the same time, but found that it was out of stock and I won't get it before my trip.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great compact strip box for locations I've used the Rapid Box Octa for location shoots for years, but decided I needed more control for hair light and side light uses so thought I'd try this little strip box. It folds up and packs exactly like the Octa box and is exactly the size I was looking for as a hair light. The universal flash bracket is very solid and works well, and the the overall construction of the box (materials, ribs, apex) is excellent. I expect it to last many years. My only quibble is that the single shoot-through diffuser leaves a bit of a hot spot in the center, but adding a Sto-Fen Omni-Bounce or equivalent diffuser to the flash spreads it out very nicely without a lot of light loss. Highly recommended accessory.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Rapid I needed a strip box and love the rapid set up b/c I am almost always on location for a wedding or portrait session and do not have time to move around and set up all the time. The construction of the box is good but have to purchase the diffusion plate separately is pretty annoying. I knew that going in so I wasn't caught off guard. Overall it's a very good system

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Product! I have a lot of wescott's product. For professional use, I find the build quality lacking a little, that being said, it's mobile, sets up easily, has good light quality. For the money, I wish it were a touch more sturdy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Portable and easy to use Works great as a kicker light, and it's easy to set up and put away. The only complaint I have is that the bracket's build quality isn't as good as the one that came with the rapid box octa I bought a year ago. I don't know if the quality dipped or if they've always been different. Other than that, it's great at what it does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome modifier Westcott has made some awesome products with these Rapid Box products. I use the 20 octa and the strip for all my headshot sessions. So fast and easy to setup and tear down.
