The BG-N11 Battery Grip For Nikon D7100 & D7200 from Vello is designed specifically for the Nikon D7100 and D7200 DSLR camera and accepts one Nikon EN-EL15 battery. With one battery in the grip and one in the camera, shooting time is effectively doubled. The BG-N11 can also hold and utilize six AA batteries. Two battery trays, one for the EN-EL15 and one for the six AAs, are included.

The design of a battery grip offers a comfortable and secure way in which to hold your DSLR, especially in the vertical position. The BG-N11 integrates an alternate shutter release button to facilitate shooting when held vertically. The shutter button offers a lock position to prevent accidental release. In addition, the BG-N11 has an alternate AE-L/AF-L button, multi selector and main and sub-command dials. It is designed with an anti-slip rubber grip and firm curvature to further improve handling. A tripod socket is included as is a space for the camera's contact cover so as not to lose it when it has been removed to install the battery grip.

Holds one EN-EL15 battery (not included), doubling the battery life and shooting time for the Nikon D7100 or D7200 camera.
Provides comfortable and secure handling when shooting in the vertical position, including a secondary shutter release button and secondary AE-L/AF-L button, multi selector, main command dial and sub-command dial.
Features anti-slip rubber gripping and a securely locking battery chamber door.
Provides a space to hold the camera's contact cover to prevent its loss.

    BG-N11 Battery Grip for Nikon D7100 & D7200 is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 200.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from A little quirky I also own the Vello BG-N2 for my D90 and I was very pleased to see that this version for the D7200 includes a 4-way selector right on the grip. Unfortunately, the grip (or possibly the D7200) has an annoying quirk. Unlike the D90/BG-N2 combo which uses both batteries simultaneously, the D7200/BG-N11 uses them sequentially (you can pick which is used first in the D7200 menu). HOWEVER, if you remove the battery from the BG-N11 to charge it and continue to use the camera, when you put the grip battery back in, the camera no longer recognizes the battery, nor grip functions (other than shutter). To correct this I had to remove the grip and swap the grip and body battery.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Grip But Filmsy Good grip for its price. Does the job but it wasn't built like Nikon. The battery tray is soft plastic and could easily damage if we don't take care of it. Also be careful when pulling the battery tray since it could be hard sometimes or maybe just my copy. I also had a hard time taking off the battery since it is really filmsy to me. I never tried vello products before but i'll probably won't be buying again in the future. I'd rather spend more money for quality built products. For only $ compare to Nikon $ I think this is a good buy. Highly recommended for budget photogs but if you can swing more $$ then get the Nikon instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best third party grip. I had another off brand, non Nikon, and it was alright but nothing like the Vello. The control dials on the Vello feel very smooth and of high quality, as good as on the camera body. The shutter button, too, much more like the camera body. The fit is excellent. I detect no movement or rocking. Everything works as it should in all functions, shooting, playback, etc. The secondary battery holder that holds 6 AA's also works just fine. I like this one so much better that I am getting one for my D750 too. I'd suggest spending a bit more for this than trying to go to a fringe brand on Am----..... B&H doesn't sell low quality stuff and it is why they only sell the Nikon and Vello battery grip. Save yourself the headache and get either the Vello or the Nikon and get it from B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best alternative There are many non-Nikon branded battery grips for the D7100, and most seem questionable in quality and function. Not the case with the Vello. It is well-made, with clear instructions, functional and useful controls including 4-way selector and shutter release lock, and fits the D7100 very well (I've already had one person ask me if I was using a D4 - ha!). I like that it comes with holders for both an extra Nikon En-EL15 battery and AA's. Even if it's damaged in use, I could afford to get another 2 before I hit the cost of one Nikon MB-D15. And as always, excellent service from B&H.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good, but not great The battery grip works like it should, but these 3rd party battery grips all have one major flaw. I went through 3 different manufacturers when I bought one for my D7000, and this one shows te same problem. Every time you move the camera, the grip shifts/moves just enough to tell the camera to power on - I mean on enough to wake the write-light on the back. And if you move it often enough, it severely negatively impacts the battery life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from not quite Nikon but good enough I couldn't justify the price of the genuine Nikon product as I will use this sporadically. It adds serious weight and bulk to the D7100 (more than I thought it would). It works well, it seems solidly constructed. The command dial has a rubbery feel to it which is very different from the one on the camera. The shutter also has a diferent feel. Basically, the shutter and wheel definitely feel cheaper/ not as smooth. As long as they work as expected, it's not really that important to me but if you will use a battery grip all the time you might want to stick with Nikon.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Follow the included Instructions Works great if you follow the included instructions. It mentions that anytime you remove the grip to make sure no source of power is running to it. I recommend only using a battery in the grip, not the camera and grip. That way if you have to remove the grip no current is running to it. Reason is the grip makes a connection to your camera's access port on the bottom. In this port are copper connections to mate up to the camera and screwing the grip to the camera with power can cause one of these connections to get misaligned. This misalignment could cause a short in the battery grip and fry the circuitry. To keep it simple; make sure there is no power running to the camera and grip before separating the two.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good unit so far - great price At this point my d7100 is an older, secondary body for me, so I didn't want to invest the hundreds of dollars it would've taken to set it up with a Nikon battery grip. This Vello unit seemed like a nice alternative. So far I am very pleased with how it bulks up the camera and extends the battery life. The grip feels good in my hand and the vertical shutter button is nice. My only complaint is that even when screwed on all the way, it does have just a little play in the grip. I wonder if the Nikon one is the same way or if it is a sturdier attachment. All in all though very pleased, would buy again..
