Polsen OLM-10 Overview

The Polsen OLM-10 Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone is an all-in-one solution for recording hands-free audio to both channels of your camcorder or DSLR, as well as recording devices with a 3.5mm mic-level input that cannot supply phantom power. It is a self-powered clip-on electret condenser mic designed for accurate voice reproduction in home and video webcasting applications such as presentations, interviews, dictation, and corporate video. The microphone's small, 21-mm long lightweight body allows for discrete placement with the included tie-clip while its 20-foot long cable gives you ample distance from your recording device.

Featuring a 3.5mm dual-mono TRS output connector, the mic sends audio to both the left and right channels of your recorder. Thanks to its omnidirectional polar pattern, the OLM-10 provides a uniform response that will not cause the bass-boosting proximity effect common with cardioid patterns, while allowing you to move freely without off-axis rejection causing a drop in volume. The in-line power switch allows you to quickly mute the microphone as well as preserve battery life when not in use. A windscreen for reduced noise and plosives, 1/4" adapter, and LR44 battery are included.

Fine

It's a fine mic -- nothing to write home about. Picks up a lot of background hums that I can generally get rid of post-production. Audio is okay.

I don't have a fine enough ear to hear the difference between this mic capsule and a sennheiser, but I can way easily tell that when you use this for your screen calls on your pc laptop with the bad audio (gave it to my friend to use on her screen calls on her pc), it is night and day. first of all, the audio is captured from inches from your mouth, but the audio just came through smooth and clean.

Battery dies during use

I purchased the Polsen OLM-10 microphone for use with our Mevo Start streaming camera for use with our church services. We used it for our Sunday School class about 1 hour and then our church service about 1.5 hours. The microphone died on us twice during our pastor's sermon even with a new battery which we had to replace weekly. We had to discontinue using it and use the Mevo Start internal microphone which is working good for us.

Quieter than my internal mic

I definitely wouldn't buy this! It is actually quieter than the internal mic of my Osmo pocket. I bought it because I needed a TRS connection, but later I bought a $20 pop voice mic with an adapter and it's much better.

it is working

These mics are great. The quality is good & the price is great. I used the RadioShack lavalier mics for years and these are just as good.

Great option if you don't want to worry about battery life

This lav mic is a nice addition to have with your video kit. Does a good job of cutting out background noise while keeping the speaker's voice clean and clear. I did notice a slight low hum the first time I used it to record, but it could have very well been my set up (camcorder was plugged into the same strip where I also ran lights). I also have a wireless lav mic which is very sensitive and picks up a ton of background noise compared with this lav mic, which makes this mic seem more of a unidirectional rather than omni.

question

If I use two OLM-10 microphones connected to a single camcorder via a Y connector, will there be any feedback issues? I know that purchasing one OLM-20 will not result in feedback, but I would prefer to purchase two OLM-10 microphones if there is no feedback issues. Thanks!

Using a Y connection is NOT recommended. The results will probably result in an audio track that is very distorted or over-modulated. Use a small mixer: The Azden CAM-3 3-Channel Mic Mixer allows you to add and mix sound from three Azden wireless or hard wired microphone sources simultaneously.Input Connections: -------------------------Input 1 and 2: 3.5mm MonoInput 3: 3.5mm Stereo ------------------------Output Connectors: 1 x 3.5mm stereo

question

Can this microphone be used with an iPhone 7 Plus using Apples headphone adapter?
Asked by: James
This mic features a standard mic jack not compatible with smartphones. For connection to a smartphone an adapter is required. We recommend the Rode SC4. This will work with the iPhone 7 using the Apple 3.5mm to lightning adapter.
