Does this drive burn dual layer DVD's? Documentation says it does, but so far I haven't had any success even with trying varying media brands. OS X 10.11.2 mac mini 2014.
With the exception of M-Disk, this drive supports Dual Layer DVDs. (DVD+/- R DL)

Does this drive read AND write CDs/DVDs? I want it for my Microsoft Surface Pro, specifically to read music into ITunes. Does it need any specific program to make it read/write?
It will read CDs & DVDs but will only write to DVDs. I use it on a Mac which does not require a specific program to operate it.
