PortaBrace HIP-3LENS Overview

The Hip-Pack Lens Case from PortaBrace accommodates up to three lenses plus accessories and has a top-loading design for quick access to your gear. It sits comfortably on your waist and can be worn on your back or front. The two padded interior dividers are adjustable to best suit your gear and can be removed completely if you need to carry a large lens.

The case has a semirigid, padded design and is made from durable 1000-denier cordura nylon. Multiple storage options include a zippered, top shelf pocket, three front slip pockets, and side pockets with hook-and-loop straps. The nylon waist belt is wide and padded with a quick release squeeze clasp.

Lots of storage space

I bought this just for the lens storage, and didn't even realize how many pockets it had until I started using it. The front zippered compartment holds three NP-F970 batteries, the very front flap is great for lav mics, it's got pockets on either side, a very roomy top pocket, and even zippered pockets alongside the waist straps.

It's a lot of bucks for not a lot of protection. The inserts / separators are slightly padded, but that's it. The bag itself feels like it is thin plastic - kind of the density of single sheet cardboard. Still hard, though, with a memory. While it has the loops for a shoulder strap, there is no strap. What I was looking for, since Nikon decided they don't need to supply cases with their Z lenses, was some sort of a fanny / over the shoulder type pack that had a little padding to protect one or two lenses while hiking. While this would carry them, it would afford no real protection if you are bush whacking. At over $150 there is no value in this nor does it fit my needs - your mileage may vary. As such, I am returning it.
