ZEISS 32mm f/1.8 overview

  • 1Description

The ZEISS Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Fujifilm X-Mount) is a normal length prime lens designed specifically for use on APS-C-sized image sensors, and as such provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 48mm. This lens is compatible with Fujifilm X mirrorless cameras and supports all camera functions, including autofocus and exposure control.

The Planar design of this lens is a highly successful optical construction that inherently corrects for most aberrations and distortion while offering high overall sharpness and image clarity. Additionally, Carl ZEISS T* anti-reflective coatings have been applied to all lens surfaces to reduce reflections, lens flare, and ghosting to produce imagery with high contrast and color fidelity.

The physical construction of the lens features a metal lens barrel with rubberized control rings for high precision when working with manual focus. When working in autofocus modes, the focusing system of the lens offers smooth and reliable performance with high precision and control. A rigid metal bayonet mount ensures accurate alignment and a nearly circular nine-blade aperture works to produce an aesthetic out-of-focus highlight quality.

Fujifilm X Compatibility
Designed for use on Fujifilm X-mount APS-C mirrorless cameras and provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 48mm. The lens offers complete compatibility with all camera functions, including accurate autofocus and exposure control. It features a wide f/1.8 maximum aperture that aids in low-light shooting as well as greater control over the focus plane for shallow depth of field and selective focus applications.
Optical Design
This lens features a Planar optical design that works to eliminate a variety of aberrations and distortions in order to produce an image with high clarity and sharpness. A Carl ZEISS T* anti-reflective coating has been applied to each lens surface to help minimize surface reflections in order to improve light transmission and provide greater image contrast and color fidelity.
Physical Design
The lens features a rigid, durable, yet lightweight, metal barrel with rubberized control rings to offer improved handling abilities. A metal bayonet mount aids in consistency and an ensured connection between the camera and lens. Additionally, a nine-blade, nearly circular aperture is used to smoothly render out-of-focus highlights.

    ZEISS 32mm f/1.8 reviews

    Touit 32mm f/1.8 Lens (Fujifilm X-Mount) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very happy with this lens Having read the tehcnical reviews of this lens and the Fuji 35mm f1,4 and used both lenses I would agree that the choice between them boils down to a matter of taste. They are both excellent lenses. I happen to very much like the contast and colors of Zeiss lenses and this one was no exception. It is now my most-used walk about lens. I would have prefered a traditional metal construction like the Zeiss M-mount lenses but I generally prefer the handling to that of the Fuji 35mm. In my hands the Zeiss auto-focusses noticably faster than the Fuji 35 mm f1.4 when both updated to the latest firmware. This difference is slight when mounted on an X-T1.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Touit 32mm f/1.8 lens Love this lens but them I love Zeiss lens. I did try two fuji lens but to be very honest I wasn't very happy and return both of them. I've started out with the 32mm but plan to move on to the 12 mm for interior work. As for this lens I find it to be an excellent over all lens for my need and what it has deliver so far has be outstanding but it Zeiss so and its not my first Zeiss lens and it will not be my last. Just love it. Light weight easy to handle and workmen ship out of this world. One of the best great value at this time. If you want great clean images light weight easy to handle get this now you will be beyond happy with this lens for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice! Conclusion first. If price was equal, i would choose Zeiss over the fuji 35mm.I owned the fuji for over 6 months and had just sold it before the Zeiss deal came up. The autofocus on the fuji was slower than i liked. After using Zeiss, i just liked the pictures better. I would say color and contrast are better and autofocus (with latest software for my X-e2) was faster. I'm not a fan of the electronic manual focus in general, didn't like fuji's and haven't given the Zeiss much work yet but it feels fine so far. Buying the Zeiss at the discounted price was a no-brainer. the only gotcha is the well documented loose aperture ring(you bump it, it moves) but Zeiss still wins for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic glass This lens is great. the build quality is fantastic, the firm click of the apeture ring is clean and precise. the bokeh is very nice and the focus is tack sharp. the focal plane is razor thin at 1.8 (about 1/2 deep if that) so when you are shooting wide open you do really have to be careful to hit your focus target. But the images look fantastic. if you're looking for a good normal portrait lens this is the one. I have a couple of the other x-mount lenses from Fuji and the build quality of the Zeiss is better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic! I am not about to repeat what others have said. This is one fantastic prime lens, Robust build quality throughout, and exceptional sharpness and contrast. Mounted to an X-E1, I use this lens in the studio for fashion and commercial photography, and it delivers the results my clients expect time and again. I briefly had the Fujinon 35 F1.4 for a brief time, and while its optical quality is as good, its build quality is subpar: in other words, the Zeiss is a well-machined tool, while the Fuji felt like a cheap toy slammed together. And the fact it's only $ more, and has a 3 year warranty, sealed the deal. Only thing missing is a soft case, but that's not huge deal. Do it, Touit!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Zeiss presents us with an nice option! I immediately tested this lens against the 18-55 mm kit lens expecting to find marked improvements. I did not find a marked improvement in sharpness. I did find an improvement in color and contrast. I first photographed a large family and after getting their order and began to make the prints noted that the images almost printed themselves needing little correction or enhancement. A week later I photographed the management team of my largest corporate client. Again, there was little I had to do to them. There was a clarity I was not used to seeing with my previous DSLR. Also, one of the senior members of the firm who is an avid photographer was a little down on my switch to a mirrorless camera, but when I pointed out the new Zeiss optics he was a bit more impressed. I very much enjoy the ergonomics of this lens and the up-to-date design. It's definitely worth the extra money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One of the best Zeiss lens! I bought this lens for my Asia trip. So far, this is one of the best lens I've ever owned. Tack sharp, beautiful color rendition, and nice contrast. I am using it with Fujifilm X Pro2 and totally happy with Jpeg and Raw pictures. Don't forget to go to Zeiss website and update the latest firmware for this lens so it can be used with multiple phase dectection focus mode.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sharp at f/1.8 Works great on my FujiFilm X-M1 camera. Very sharp at f/1.8. Some color fringing in certain compositions at f/1.8, but very-very rare. Also, very nice color and contrast. It is my first Zeiss piece of glass and I can see why this brand gained their reputation. Autofocus can hunt a bit in low light. For still life should not be an issue, but if you do street photography your mileage may vary.
