The MEAD-SD02 SDHC/SDXC Card Adapter from Sony enables the use of a Class 10 SDHC/SDXC memory card, including UHS-1, in the ExpressCard slot of XDCAM EX equipment, such as camcorders and recording decks. It will also work with other ExpressCard compatible hardware, such as Windows and Mac computers and storage drives.

Although the SxS PRO and SxS-1 cards intended for the memory slots in XDCAM models offer higher performance, SDHC and SDXC cards are more readily available in a pinch when additional memory is required. This adapter, which is the same size as an SxS memory card, provides a viable solution in this type of situation.

Please note that use of the slow motion recording function is not recommended, due to the speed limitations of SD cards. XDCAM EX hardware may require a firmware upgrade in order to support the use of the adapter.

MEAD-SD02 SDHC/SDXC Card Adapter for XDCAM EX Camcorders / Equipment is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works fine but... I got this adaptor with my Sony X160. As far as working with SCXC cards it does the trick but it has a major physical design flaw that could cause problems. Other adaptors won't let you insert the card into the camera backwards but this one will. In a rush to prep for a shoot I did just that (it's hard to see in the dark sometimes) and when I did, it got stuck and I thought I was going to break the camera to get it out. Luckily it came out without damage but I'm going to stick with the Sonnett adaptors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great with all SD cards I got this with my PXW-X160 I was very skeptical at first. Back in the day I lost a job shooting on and adapter and SD card with my EX1. They seem to have fixed those problems. Others have written you don't get the higher codecs but that's only if you use SDHC cards to get the full range you need to use SDXC card U3 II. Two things 1 buy a second adapter so you can span card to card in MXF mode. SxS card to Adapter will not hot swap and you can't just change slots you need to stop recording and unload the card then load the SxS. 2. I would make sure you buy the newest cards and forget the SDHC cards all together because the camera will not allow you to record higher then avchd to those cards. I recommend this adapter to anyone that needs 128 gig SXS card but can't afford the Sony version.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works perfect in Sony cameras This SxS card adapter worked perfect in my Sony PXW X200 camera. I first bought 2 Hoodman card adapters that was cheaper then the one MEAD SD02. Neither Hoodman adapters worked in my PXW X200 camera. The MEAD SD02 adapter workes with SD cards up to 32 GB's. Also, it does'nt record the better codecs the camera has to offer. But it works perfect, my camera can still record 35 MBps per second & I did'nt have to spend $ to buy any SxS cards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Dependable Use for reality shoots with EX3/EX1. Great alternative to pricey and annoyingly proprietary SxS media. Use with SanDisk Extreme SDHC 32GB cards. Never had any problems with this gear.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works with SD Cards These card adapters are great, allows me to use SD cards that are much bigger and cheaper than the Sony proprietary cards.
