ASUS X550CA Overview

The X550CA-DB31 15.6" Laptop Computer from ASUS features a dark gray finish with a concentric circle pattern for a stylish look. Its slim profile is 5 percent thinner than previous versions of ASUS X Series notebooks. The X550CA still houses a large touchpad with intuitive Smart Gesture input while the ASUS IceCool technology keeps your palm rests cool so you'll be able to type comfortably on the Chiclet-style keyboard.

The system is powered by a dual-core Ivy Bridge 1.8GHz Intel Core i3-3217U processor. It also has 4GB of DDR3 RAM, a 500GB 5400rpm hard drive, a SuperMulti DVD burner, a Secure Digital (SD) media card slot, 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, an integrated webcam and microphone. There are also built-in stereo speakers with SonicMaster technology.

Windows 8 (64-bit) is the installed operating system. Windows 8 replaces the traditional Start menu with a redesigned Start screen. The Start screen features tiles, which provide notifications in real-time. Windows 8 also focuses more on cloud storage as well as apps, which can be downloaded from the Windows Store. Windows 8 provides a unique user experience that differs from previous versions of Windows.

Super Hybrid Engine II incorporates elements of its SHE predecessor and builds on the vitals of better battery performance.
