Designed to resist bending when a constant array of accessories are added to small lighting fixtures or strobes. It mounts on a 5/8 in stud, and will extend 7 ft, terminating in a 5/8 mounting stud.

After buying a Matthews C-Stand 15 years ago, I was pretty much committed to their system. I recently invested in the Matthews Boom Arm, and while it is definitely pricey, the build quality is absolutely solid. It completely solved my frustration—I am no longer fighting with standard grip arms slipping under a load. It's worth every penny for the peace of mind on set.
I personally love to use this arm with Astra panels or smaller COB lights. It's perfect for getting a nice backlight for interviews with a particularly wide frame. It can hold a surprising amount of weight. I find that is a lot easier and quicker to setup on smaller jobs than a standard menace arm kit. Although you are trading some weight capacity and range for something like this.
