This M39 Lens to Leica M Camera Adapter from Fotodiox enables the use of M39 screw-mount lenses on Leica M mount camera bodies, and activates the 35mm/135mm frame lines in compatible camera bodies. It features a durable brass construction with stainless steel finish and its design also maintains infinity focus.

Enables use of M39 screw-mount lenses on Leica M mount camera bodies, including the Leica M3, M2, M1, M4, M5, M6, M7, M8, M9, M, CL, Konica Hexar RF, Epson R-D1, Voigtlander Bessa, Minolta CLE, Zeiss Ikon, and Ricoh GXR A12 M Mount Module.
When used with a compatible camera body, this adapter will activate the viewfinder frame lines for working with 35mm and 135mm lenses.
Constructed from brass with a stainless steel finish.

Way too tight, I’d be very cautious using this

Not to put too fine a point on this but: IT IS WAY TOO TIGHT A FIT. It is seriously very difficult to remove. Thankfully, I have an M to RF adapter to test it on. I can barely get it off. I’m talking focused effort. Using a jar opener to get traction. It’s on the adapter, so I can use both hands, sick my fingers through the opening for better grip, etc. Even then, I wasn’t sure if I would be successful in removing it. I put it back on and off 3 times (total) to see if it would break in and get easier. No luck. It left some gouges (see photo) in the 7atrisans adapter I was testing it on, which is aluminum (I’ve been plenty happy with the adapter fwiw). I’d be freaking out if I had to be doing this while it was on my camera. I would be very careful to check if this worked to your satisfaction before you attach it your camera. Before I tested it on the adapter, I started to put it on my M2 and got a bad feeling about it. The fit just didn’t feel right. Trust your gut if you have concerns when attaching to your camera.

The precision is not there. The lens needs at least another 30-degree turn. Three stars because it's somewhat usable on non-M-mount digital cameras with an adaptor.

Will this adapter be a problem with a Leica M4 or M4-2? I'm thinking of shooting M39 elmar, summiron, and summirit lenses. I already have m mount summicrons.

Does "Maintains infinity focus " means the infinity lock functionality is retained - I have an M3 and I just purchased a screw mount Elmar 50mm that I believe needs this adaptor to work.

It's worked fine for me on my M8. Be sure to choose the right adapter so the framelines the camera brings up in the viewfinder matches your lens - unless your lens is an ultrawide angle one, of course. Then it doesn;t much matter.
