LensCoat LCRC2PDC overview

  • 1Description

For protecting your camera and telephoto lens from the elements, use the RainCoat 2 Pro Camera Cover (Digital Camo) from LensCoat. This product affords easy access to camera and lens controls while deflecting water, snow, salt spray, dust, sand, and dirt. Constructed from a lightweight waterproof and breathable poly tricot material with tape-sealed seams, this cover also features an integrated storage pocket and left side foldaway arm sleeve for easy access to lens controls and manual focus operation. This RainCoat 2 Pro is designed for use with DSLR cameras with 200-400mm, 300mm f/2.8, or 800mm-sized lenses. A hood extension sleeve is included for complete coverage of 600mm and 800mm lenses with attached hoods.

Cinch straps are incorporated into the front and rear of the cover for adjusting the fit of the case to your specific lens. The two side pockets both reveal foldaway arm sleeves for protected access to your camera. The rear of the cover can also be exposed if complete access is needed, and the bottom of the case features a hook-and-loop fastened seam for attaching a tripod. This product is made in the USA.

This digital camo version provides a computer-generated pixelated pattern that mimics naturally occurring textures and rough boundaries.
Pro size is ideally suited for DSLRs with 200-400mm, 300mm f/2.8, and longer prime telephoto lenses up to 800mm. The hood extension sleeve provides full coverage of 600mm and 800mm lenses when using them with their hoods attached.
Cinch straps adjust the total cover length by folding the material over itself and keeping the cover snug on variable sized lenses.
Lightweight, waterproof, and breathable poly tricot material with tape-sealed seams protects the lens and camera from rain, snow, salt spray, dirt, sand, and dust.
No-slip rubber is added to the front section to provide a solid grip on the lens hood without the use of a bungee cord.
Two integrated side pockets reveal foldaway arm sleeves for easy access to camera and lens controls.
A hook-and-loop closure runs along the bottom of the cover to permit the use of a tripod or monopod, as well as manual focus control of the lens barrel.
The size and shape of the rear opening can be adjusted for greater protection or for easier control access. This cover does not require the use of a dedicated eyepiece.
A mesh storage pouch is included for packing the cover when not in use.
Compatible with optional LensCoats, Hoodie lens caps, and camera BodyGuards.

    LensCoat LCRC2PDC reviews

RainCoat 2 Pro Camera Cover (Digital Camo) is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality This is typical quality from Lens Coat. I have a lot of their products and have never been disappointed. You can access your camera body from the back, you can access the focus or zoom through the sleeve and if you don't want to use the sleeves on either side, you can use them as pockets. My only complaint is as a wildlife photographer, we are always battling weight allowances and this little unit takes up a lot of room and a lot of weight based on what it is. That being said, it is also protecting your most valuable assets while on safari...So, I will just take a couple fewer shirts I suppose. :)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great design, takes some practice I got the RainCoat 2 Pro for shooting wildlife on Rio Negro and the Amazon River, Brazil, during the rain period (equipment Canon 5DMII with 150-600 mm Tamron and 70-200 mm Canon 1:2.8 lenses). Shooting with a monopod in a canoe was not easy even in sunshine, and became quite a challenge with the RainCoat attached. The design is very clever, and the sleeves offer great protection for the camera with ample room for my lenses. However, quickly mounting the cover over bulky equipment when the rain forest sky opened up without warning was a bit difficult. Keeping it on all the time would have been easier, but finding shooting controls by touch required practice. I suspect the RainCoat is absolutely perfect when shooting wildlife from a stable blind. Looking forward to trying.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not What I Expected I live in South Florida where it rains pretty much year round. You never know when you might get caught in a storm. That can be a problem if you are some distance from shelter. I normally carry a common kitchen trash bag which will cover my 600mm, 1.7multiplier, flash and beamer and camera body. It works well in a pinch and goes on fairly quickly. Still, I've had my eye on the RainCoat for some time and when I saw it offered with the RainCap package I decided to get them. Upon receiving it I was surprised on how bulky the storage pouch was and thought to myself how was I going to carry it in the field? I then tried it on for a fitting and discovered that it doesn't go on easily and wouldn't be of great benefit in a sudden shower. Part of the problem is that I use a Wimberley II mount which proves difficult to get around with the equipment mounted. It takes some time to get the RainCoat securely around everything and then add the extension piece for a 600mm. Also it does not fit tight at lens foot and arca-swiss clamp. If you look at the photos of the RainCoat applied to mounted cameras in the product advertisement, you will notice that each mount is a ball head. After I got it on and fairly secure I tried to access the lens controls though the forward sleeve and discovered the upper shaft of the Wimberley blocked good access. The sleeve to the camera is ok though. Lastly, if you plan to use this product for 600mm + lenses, you will want the RainCap because the RainCoat will not close-up with the lens hood extended. So, unless you're planning to head-out in the rain and have the time to apply your RainCoat in a dry location before hand, and use a balled head mount, I would not suggest this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from lenscoat reputation is well founded use to protect nikon d 5 and d 810 from the rain with the longer zoom and fixed telephotos. The access through the arm openings is very convenient. The camp color is very quiet to not attract attention....well sewn and well made overall

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Made - Works Great After a recent 5 day shoot in mixed cold and wet weather I can easily say this product is just right. It kept the lenses and camera body dry; afforded easy viewfinder visibility and had the added benefit of allowing warm hands.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Keeps Everything Dry! I use this raincoat with the Sigma 150-600mm Sports Lens. I have bought numerous products from B&H with regard to LensCoat products and I have to say that this raincoat was a great investment. Although it may seem a little pricey, I have used it dozens of times and my gear has never gotten wet. The velcro attachments allow the raincoat to fit snug onto the lens so that it does not flap around in the wind. The sleeves are retractable into the raincoat when they are not in use. The raincoat is still compatible to place your lens on a tripod head or gimbal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Raincoat 2 Pro Good design, fits Nikon 600 very well Additional cover can be used to extend to an 800mm. Or can be used as a rain cover for front of the lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent rain coat.but... Excellent rain coat. 4 stars only because you have to fiddle with the velcro to accomodate the side gimbal mount
